State of the Union?

I've got to start paying closer attention to TV network programinng. I didn't even learn about the Oscars until Monday morning - and now this ?

I live in one of the states in the Union - why wasn't I briefed?

Its too late to reschedule my binge watch session of Surface on appleTV - not gonna do it.

Well DC is just hollywood for ugly people, so Oscars = State of the Union. State of the Union probably with better writers, judging by the last season of America.

I'm on the fence on felons owning guns. If you paid your debt to society, then your societal accesses should be restored. If you cannot be trusted, then you shouldn't be free. Then there's the argument of temptation, etc...but I swing it back to the point that they probably shouldn't be free.

Do y'all remember when Biden said he needed a bill for enforcement of the border? But Trump says some words, deploys some troops along the border and incursions drop to their lowest rate per month since like the 70s for February? Wild. Also, we used to have a lot more troops stations near the border because we like patrolled the border. Funny thing that.

1. Not everywhere, not by a long shot, but good talking point, bro.
2. You can't run a gov't like a business. Stop with that argument. You can run with some inspiration and ideas from businesses, but not exactly.

Having worked in the corporate sector for awhile and watch the Army try to get more corporate...The Army from a personnel perspective is so far ahead of corporate. Most companies do not have evaluations processes. So most people who get the sack are usually just getting the dildo and the company will lose productivity.

The problem with felonies is so many non-violent crimes are listed as felonies.
Non-violent-get your 2A and voting rights back.

Your first and last sentences are a PERFECT critique of the left tonight at the SOTU.

Trump breaks the fourth wall and says, “You won’t stand for anything I do! You’ll boycott me cause you hate me, not for the good I’ve done.” More on this in a second.

Trump understands soudbites and optics better than anyone. Light years ahead if the left. “Biden said he couldn’t close the border, the media said I needed legislation- all you needed was a new president.” That’s the soundbite.

And the optics of the democrats sitting and refusing to clap just like Trump said they would. They wouldn’t clap for brain cancer, for Laken Riley, for healthier kids, for balancing a budget, for no tax on tips and tax breaks, for policemen or firemen or nurses or farmers.

Every meme. Every conservative host. Every talking point driven by the pic of the President, after calling them out to their faces, facing a crowd of democrats that won’t stand and applaud the renaming of a wildlife refuge for a slain child.

They have no idea how they lost and now they look spiteful, childish and petulant to all of America.

I need to rewatch but I have feelings. Good feelings. Winning feelings.

There is a legal process through which non-violent criminals can get their voting rights and 2A rights back. (my neighbor spent four years in prison for felony DUI and went through the process)

The process should be walking out of jail or prison. And again, the caveat is that if you can't be trusted to have your rights, you shouldn't be on the street. How we get there is probably a long and complex debate.

One thing I like about Trump is in 2016 he said some crazy shit and then followed up. People thought he said crazy shit (I'll build a wall) just to say it...because that's what they've done for years. Say something and never follow through.

Except Trump did.

Fast forward to 2024 and Trump says some "crazy shit" about immigration, DEI, etc. AND PEOPLE COULDN'T BELIEVE HE FOLLOWED THROUGH! Morons, he showed you he would do it, he showed you that whatever he said (minus those pesky files) he would follow through. He was like Jordan or Bird calling their plays, like Ruth pointing at the fence, he told the defense what he was doing and did it.

I agree with this, but it's not simple. There are many examples but someone like John Hinckley should never be allowed to own a gun.

We were down to 60% manning, including one supervisor and one who is about to PCS back to the states in a few weeks because her husband has orders. Our previous Deputy knew we had vacancies but held the job certs on her desk for a year. Since she left, we have worked hard to prioritize getting bodies here. Sadly I looked at it from the wrong lenses at the time as I took the what’s best for the enterprise approach. That meant my teams got filled last. Well guess who is the only Division now that has hiree’s frozen?

TLDR: don’t always think one level above you.

I’m stepping off my soap box. Cuts are good but I don’t think this was the right cut given how many organizations are already undermanned.
