United States & Gun Control discussion.

$200 when the NFA passed is about the same as $4500 today, so I think it was absolutely a "don't let the common people have it" move. The elites could afford it, but screw us average people, I suppose.

I know a cop with the Township I work for. Part of my job as a paramedic is to check the police med bags/AEDs.

Cop shows me his AR he uses, complete with a suppressor. I asked if he had to get the tax stamp.

No! No stamp for law enforcement. Fucking bullshit.

My bosses' husband is the #2 guy for a big department in central NC; he's on the short list for chief. I asked him once, kinda baiting him, about NFA stuff and being a cop, he said if "a normal citizen can't readily get it, I am not letting my officers have it for free. Personal weapons get a stamp like everyone else." He also said he couldn't care less at gun ranges (about NFA items), and never asks if people who carry concealed have a concealed carry permit.

North Cackalacky still requires a CCP?

If it is a departmental weapon they don't have to pay any type of tax stamp, but it is a registered weapon that belongs to the department. If it's personal weapon he is using for LEO and its not tax stamped...he is wrong and violating the law.

Doesn’t Durham County still require it? I haven’t bought a pistol since 2015. But I had to get a permit.

North Carolina did away with pistol purchase permits about 6 weeks ago or so. So now you can go straight to a gun shop and purchase a gun. They still have to do a background check, but you don't need to go to the sheriff's department for a permit first.

I was stationed in California for several years. I have a lot of family in San Diego. So much to do and the state and weather are beautiful. There are a lot of good Americans outside of LA and San Fran that have to put up with this kinda of restrictive nonsense BS or leave their home state. Some of my family moved from CA to Nevada. A bunch of celebrities are even leaving and we talk about Newsom for president? @AWP called it...we are not a serious country.
