Just read "inside delta force". Was a good read even though the credibility might not be 100% at all Times.

If you had to choose one would "Sua Sponte" by Dick Couch or "Ranger Knowledge" By erik Larsen be a good read for a future OPT 40? Have a long flight coming up trying to be find a good book to stay busy.

That is an all time favorite. Pirsig's later "Lila: an inquiry into morals", I could not like and had trouble finishing. Hadn't realized he passed last April.

I was unaware he passed as well. I'm not incredibly familiar with his work at this time, but I do like what I've seen so far.

I've read it. Its an interesting book and from what I've heard and read, the biggest cred issue is that Haney claims to be a founding member when in fact he was not. He was an original member but not a founder. Supposedly, some of his teammates disliked CSM Haney's loose lips and war profiteering, not necessarily his lack of cred. IDK, I just read the book, some reviews, and watched some videos about it.

Delta is far more quiet than some of the other units out there (looking at you NSW). Dalton Fury got a lot of heat over Kill Bin Laden as well. Seems that they have a much more ingrained culture of keeping shit to yourself.

Like that we have at least one element that can seemingly come out of nowhere to provide solutions to complex problems. The element of surprise always remains.
I do think Haney gave away a lot in the book but that was from a past time.

Years ago when all of the retired SGM's from the unit became known to the general public as shooting instructors (Lamb, Vickers, Howe, McNamara, etc.), you didn't see them name the old unit. They'd just say "x years in special operations" or something about the premiere counterterrorist unit or whatever. They wouldn't even list "SMU" in their bios. Everyone and their brother knew where they came from, but they still wouldn't admit to certain details. They've eased up on that I think, but it cracks me up they maintained their silence long after they had to while other units are practically doing a copy-paste of past OPORDs in their books.

Y'all need to go buy this book.

Cathy Scott-Clark and Adrian Levy, The Exile: The Stunning Inside Story of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda in Flight (Bloomsbury, 2017).

Reading it now. Fascinating so far. More when I cross the finish line.

The Battle of Britain: Five Months That Changed History; May-October 1940 by James Holland.

The author calls the invasion of France as the beginning of the BoB. The book has gone into good detail describing the invasion and subsequent evacuation at Dunkirk. It covers soldiers, sailors, airmen, and civilians during this period, what they did, what they thought, etc. If you need a good "one stop shop" for WWII history during that time frame, here you go.

Currently i am finishing up "Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell"

My favorite book i have read recently was "Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield"

I have also read:
"American Sniper by Chris Kyle"
"Guardian Angel by William F. Sine"
"The Operator by Robert O'Neill"
"The Devils Water's & The Empty Quarter by David L Robbins" *Fictional

I just ordered "Get Selected!" Obviously this will be more of an educational type read but i am looking forward to the information it provides!
