Why is Dad So Mad?
YES!!! I've recommended this book a bunch. (really? ask a question like that and NOT expect me to give an opinion?)
There's a whole subset of children's literature that delves into explaining big adult issues to children. Both ends of the spectrum, awesome to excruciating.
Considering your link is from Goodreads and it's ratings are 4+ stars, that's generally a good sign that a book is worth a look. Aside from professional journals, this is a website that is a go-to for many of us librarians when assessing books.

Finished Heretics of Dune, just starting Chapter House Dune.
I have David McCullough's The Pioneers and Rick Atkinson's The British are Coming on the night stand. Really looking forward to the Atkinson book but saving it to savor it.
