Very good read so far. Reading it while I'm in exile from Laura and waiting to go home to see what's left.

I’ve read in reviews and some comments that called out some historical errors within the book but the Kennedy one really stuck out to me the most. Besides that it’s high recommend as a read.

I’m hoping the stories of Billy Waugh are true because that man is a certified badass.

Finished The Black Swan and looking forward to reading his other work.

Antifragility was great. I had to read it in a class on emerging market investment. 10/10 recommend. Though once you get the concept down, it gets a bit repetitive.

Currently I’m half way through On China by Henry Kissinger. His thoughts on Chinese diplomacy are intriguing as are his interactions with Mao & Zhao En Lai. It also outlines how China ranks other nations as tributaries in line with Chinese thinking.

Just finished “Left of bang” by Jason A. Riley and Patrick Van Horne. Very informative book on how to identify danger and prevent them before any harm is done in any situation. Whether you’re at bank stateside or out on a patrol in a village overseas, this acts as a guide to use human behaviors as a way to help identify threats. Highly recommended.

Up next: “Joker One” by Donovan Campbell.
My old OIC wagered that I would Enlist again upon finishing the book. Will keep y’all posted on that haha.

Just read this one as well. No idea on the veracity, but looking at the sources of information, I'd bet a large portion is true at least to their recollection. Definitely helps put some things back into the context of what each generation has had to endure. Glad things continually get better.
Everything pre-GWOT makes my trips look like a vacation!

Finished Joker One. Put it on hold for for a bit when I reached almost half way when suddenly yesterday I started reading and never stopped. 12+ hours straight of reading...

On to the review; I haven’t had a book make me run tears in some time. An excellent story on leadership, the mental and psychological hardships of war and losing men, and genuine love in leading those you serve. Highly recommended for Company grade Officers for a good foundational point of how to Lead Marines in the worst of situations.

In a sense, my old OIC and friend was right, had I not be going to school soon, I’d be swearing in a second time because of this book.

Up next: “Finding Ultra” by Rich Roll. A testament that age is but a number, and that being in your 40s is not too old for you to run 5 Ironmans in five Hawaiian islands in less that a week. This man alongside David Goggins is the reason I fell in love with ultra endurance sports and was able to change my life.

I just finished Band of Brothers by Steven Ambrose. A book I am sure many have read, or have at least seen the TV series. The book was better than the show.

Im now reading Beyond Band of Brothers by Richard Winters. Im only about halfway through, but its a superior book to Band of Brothers in my honest opinion. If you were only going to read one of the two, I would read this one.

I'm reading 11 bats by Harry Moffitt. 20 years in SASR in a couple of stints, splutted in while on his free fall instructors course, blasted out of the drivers seat of a SRV land rover when Sean McCarthy was killed, massive infection post blast, nearly lost his leg, survivor guilt, mental health issues, etc. 11 deployments and 11 cricket bats, signed by various people during those deployments, fellow diggers, rebels, ministers, prime ministers, presidents, Generals, McCrystal being one of them. An interesting read from an interesting bloke.
