Will this make me ineligible for REP63?

Hello all,

I hold both Dutch and US citizenship and am currently living in the Netherlands. Will be going to the US at some point when I'm ready. In the US I want to apply for a National Guard REP63 contract (US Army 18x equivalent).

Is dual citizenship an automatic disqualifier to become a Special Forces operator? My fear was that I because of this would not be able to get a secret clearance.

You are correct in thinking that you cannot hold dual citizenship and get a secret clearance.

have you looked at the Dutch Armed Forces?

Yes but I do not have the same passionate feelings about the KCT as I do with SF.

You CANNOT get a DOD security clearance if you are a dual citizen. You NEED a DOD security clearance for the Military.

Dept of State is not the military, Research military and clearances and dual citizenship.

What does it matter when? You either want to go SF or not. Remember, you have a birthright to Dutch citizenship, you can always get it back when you don't need the clearance anymore. It wont stop you visiting family etc... It's just a little strange.

When I joined my unit in the summer of 09 I got screened for a security clearance and held it until my EAS. The fact that I was a citizen of two countries was never brought up.

When I was being screened for a top secret the issue was brought up, but I ended up not needing it so I still kept my dual with just a secret clearance.

That wasn't even a good dodge. The issue is loyalty and commitment to the United States. You've spent your entire life abroad and have no desire to renounce your loyalty to a foreign power, yet you want the U.S. Army to provide you with the best military training available and give you access to classified information?
