Guess Will doesn’t have that kind of powerI mean...I'm kind of embarrassed for Will. He should have knocked Rock the fuck out.
Looking at it again, he slapped Rock.Guess Will doesn’t have that kind of power
I think it was low class for Will to do that especially since it was a joke. He could have addressed him backstage.Supposedly the joke was about her hair loss. Talking rot about other people’s partners is likely going to get you smacked in the head. Not on.
Good on Will for not taking his shit.
The lead up was talking about couples that were there for awards together, and Chris said “Jada, I can’t wait for G.I. Jane 2”Supposedly the joke was about her hair loss. Talking rot about other people’s partners is likely going to get you smacked in the head. Not on.
Good on Will for not taking his shit.
Agreed on both parts. I have to wonder if this gives ‘Hollywood” the perception that they have the right to assault someone who makes fun of them…which is pretty much everyone in my circle of friends. Will's tearful apology afterwards...weak, but whatever. Own the moment. Go full Nathan Jessup.
Awards shows and Hollywood are a joke anyway. Now future hosts will "uber-vanilla" their monologues to avoid this sort of altercation. This incident could without exaggeration be one of the last "wow" moments in the Oscars' history as viewership declines and people lose interest.
It's all fun and games until the joke is directed at you, or someone (or something) you care about. I thought joke was very, very mild compared to what I've heard other celebs say on similar shows.
Will Smith should have been arrested on the spot. Not only did that not happen, they allowed the show to proceed as if the assault didn't even occur? In an age where someone says "I don't feel safe" over someone's words is often enough to get them banned from an event, it seems the height of hypocrisy to allow someone who actually attacked someone else physically to continue on as usual.
