Agreed on both parts. I have to wonder if this gives ‘Hollywood” the perception that they have the right to assault someone who makes fun of them…which is pretty much everyone in my circle of friends.Will's tearful apology afterwards...weak, but whatever. Own the moment. Go full Nathan Jessup.
Awards shows and Hollywood are a joke anyway. Now future hosts will "uber-vanilla" their monologues to avoid this sort of altercation. This incident could without exaggeration be one of the last "wow" moments in the Oscars' history as viewership declines and people lose interest.
The only thing that could have made that more entertaining was if it had been Ricky Gervais (whom I find very funny), just so the next day I could watch Twitter blow up demanding that Smith be charged with a Hate Crime since Gervais is white.
100% chance that at sometime in the near future you will see a prominent comedian work the phrase “black on black crime” into one of their bits based on this incident.
