All things Star Wars

I watched "Solo" on Friday. I liked it, a lot more than some of the recent Star Wars flicks. And my enjoyment wasn't solely due to the fact that one of the main actresses from Game of Thrones had a starring role.

Finally got some time away from work and decided to catch up on the Star Wars movies, Rogue One was pretty great and certainly had nothing to do with my infatuation with Felicity Jones... Solo was alright, granted I'm not as emotionally invested in the SWverse so certain things didn't bother me like it did for others but I enjoyed my 2 hours lost due to watching.

The Last Jedi...was garbage, complete and utter trash, bad would be another descriptor for it, but unlike Sharknado 2: The Second One or beer cheese covered fries where it's so bad it actually comes full circle and becomes good again, TLJ is locked in this purgatory of The Little Engines That Couldn't and of people walking slowly down the hallway blocking traffic.

Tonight my wife and I are lamenting how the worst thing to the SW franchise used to be the Ewoks.

Now the Ewoks aren't even remotely close to the worst thing about the franchise.

Han definitely fired first in Solo. Straight gunned a dude down when he was in the middle of Bad Guy Monologue.

So, Star Wars is fucked. Disney is full of morons: Star Wars Producer to Remain at Lucasfilm Through 2021

LOS ANGELES—The force remains with Lucasfilm Ltd. President Kathleen Kennedy.

The veteran Hollywood producer has renewed her contract for another three years with the Star Wars production company she has overseen since 2012, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Ms. Kennedy’s extension, through 2021, continues her reign overseeing one of Hollywood’s most famous brands but comes soon after the franchise faced significant fan backlash and box-office disappointments.

Since Walt Disney Co. bought Lucasfilm for $4 billion in 2012, the company has built the space opera George Lucas created into one of its signature franchises, along with Marvel Studios and Pixar Animation. In some cases, Disney has succeeded, with its first installment, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in 2015, becoming the top-grossing domestic film of all time with $937 million.

Someone please tell me why Solo wasn't released at Christmas like the recent Star Wars films. I enjoyed Solo as well. Good storytelling.

Not really related to anything in here, but goddamn I'm already so tired of seeing that stupid lil baby from The Mandalorian everywhere.

When you wake up seeing that high speed hover-bassinet floating by your bed, know that you’re well and truly fucked. 🤣
My liver gently weeps at the thought of partying that hard. Imagine explaining to CQ and the MP's how you ended up caring for an alien child in a bassinet after a drunken binge.

You know... that could make for an awesome soju commercial!

I'm seeing the movie flop. Spoilers are out and it's not good. Rumors about the test screenings are out and they're not good either. Kathleen Kennedy, Rian Johnson, and the rest of their ilk ruined the franchise. They're going to blame the film flopping on 'deplorables' and 'Trump voters'.

And that's actually okay with me. In every case, especially the entertainment industry, follow the money. So far....Disney has figured it out with the Mandalorian. The success and sequels to Taken show it, as does the success of John Wick. Sex sells, guns sell, and toxic masculinity (whatever that is) sells. Hollywood will bitch that 'we' are deplorable, but they will also make movies to entertain us because we spend the money.

Have you noticed that the Rose Tico character has all but been invisible from the marketing campaign for this final movie? Try to find merchandise for her: Why Exactly is Rose Tico Being Removed From Star Wars Merchandise?

Did you notice that in Mandalorian they did not choose another 90 pound Twix-bar to play the badass female character? They chose a woman who has a little meat on her bones and looks like she could actually do what she does on the show.

Make a shitty movie with shitty characters and blame whomever you like....make a movie that interests me and that I can relate to somehow? You can cash my checks all year long.
