On a more serious note, on March 26th 2020 the
Federal reserve is reducing the reserve requirement ratios to zero percent. As a non-economics major, I have a very cursory understanding of this subject. That said, apparently the primary reason for having 3-10% in reserve is to prevent a run on the banks.
Ostensibly, the reduction is being done to stimulate the economy (thanks Corona) by increasing the amount banks can loan ordinary citizens/businesses. That said, if people randomly get spooked and dollar bills become the new toilet paper, this could cause a major problem.
Just throwing it out there because I haven't seen anything about it on the news.
