Game of Thrones thread -

I miss the Hound. He was one of my favorite characters.

There are too many extraneous characters in the books and too many subplots to transpose to TV and avoid confusion. The Sansa-imposter at Winterfell is one example where the series has simplified the plot by substituting Sansa herself.

I'm happy with the abridgments.

Isn't the person previously referred to as the hound still alive as a monk or something in the books?

Sooo...
I'm not all the way through the books yet, but have done a lot of reading about fan theories between seasons.

One theory popularly referred to as "Cleganebowl" is that the two Cleganes will end up duking it out in a trial by combat with Frankenmountain representing Cersei and The Hound fighting for "The Faith".

There's precedent for trial by combat in the show and while The High Sparrow did let Cersei make her walk of atonement back to The Red Keep, she does still has a trial to deal with at some point. Given we never actually see Sandor Clegane die (and the show's not shy about showing main characters shirk their mortal coil) this seems like a setup for Cleganebowl.

The only wrinkle I see is that we've been seeing Qyburn working on Gregor and then reintroducing him as Ser Robert Strong, but we haven't seen anything to indicate Sandor's still alive other than what'd be dubious foreshadowing at best when Jaqen H'ghar slaps Arya around for lying about hating The Hound. So we'll see.

I thought it was pretty well established that the Hound was very dead. I vaguely remember a passage referring to a grave off the side of the road marked with the Hound's distinctive helmet. It's also been two years since I finished the books so that may be terribly wrong.

EDIT: The ASOIAF wiki is very useful for this kind of stuff: Hound

I think that was the point.. the Hound is dead, Sandor Clegane might still be alive.

Good thing you get to see him every week! BAM.

GoT is like twitter- 140 characters and terrible shit happening everywhere.

I am just pumped that we are slooooooowly moving into the one story theme/lines that the books explored and the series hasnt.

Cat Stark, paging Cat Stark to Westeros.

And Ramsay killed his daddy and fed his baby brother to the dogs...:-"

Nice guy.

Dude...... That sadistic fuck. It will be interesting to see what happens when Theon shows back up in the Iron Islands.

Yeah, and I'm glad they've brought that story line back into the series. Theon may eventually get his revenge.

There's a theory that the gravedigger working at the monastery on the Quiet Isle is Sandor Clegane.
