Game of Thrones thread -

I wish some of you guys would just enjoy the damn story for what it is, (a story) and wait until after the series is over before you try to convince me why I should hate one is the greatest shows ever put on TV...and a series ending I’ve been enjoying.

Fine.

Yeah, you're right...and I think the deal is, we've all had two long years to imagine and speculate on what the final season will be like. By now we've all established a mental picture of our expectations--and everybody's is different. So when things happen that don't quite live up to what we expected, we get all bitchy about it.

Not only that, but we have a week to digest the last episode and chew it over and come up with flaws.

We tend to forget it's a TV series. A freaking awesome series as far as TV goes. And the writers had their own vision (along with G.R.R. Fatload) before the last season ended.

Even on a bad day, GoT is better than any other series I've ever seen on TV.

For me personally I think I've become burnt out on it and resentful, I still enjoy it. But 8 years of a show that arguably has been more of an emotional rollercoaster than anything since maybe The Wire or Sopranos gets exhausting. Plus, it's hard to cram 8 years of story and world building into a short season and not have a few "mistakes".

I hope people here don't take my criticism the wrong way. I loved GOT, it IS one of the best shows ever made even if the last two seasons were weak to me, and it is because they largely lack source material. I respect that the show writers at least tried to compensate somehow. It just didn't cut for me. There were parts I liked about the last two episodes, character arc conclusions like that of the Cleganes were fine, there are parts I outright hate. Not because of unexpected conclusions, but because they make no sense. Does it destroy the entire series for me ? no absolutly not. It is still a great tv show and definitly raised the bar.

I would love to be able to enjoy the story. But lazy and incoherent writing is spoiling it for me.

Yeah I agree the writing has been lazy this season. Last episode didn't have Bran in it so that made me happy. Where was that arsehole anyway?
