Gaming thread

Looks like I've bought my last Ubisoft game. Looking at the catalogue, I only have a handful of their games anyway. Riders Republic is pretty cool, but I haven't touched it in 18 months.

It’s no different than Apple Music, or any of the other online music services. I shudder to think about the amount of music that I have “purchased”over the years. If I quit Apple tomorrow, I would not have access to it anymore.

Now I just subscribe to Apple Music to have access to the whole catalog for a monthly fee.

I've never bought into these subscription services. I believe in physical media for the obvious reasons. Yeah, that also makes me old, but did anyone else use Photobucket back at the dawn of the internet? I did. And, you know, fool me once...

After hundreds and hundreds of hours across Diablo 3 and 4, a little over 100 in Path of Exile 2, and now 20 in Last Epoch, I think LE might be the play. Diablo is great for casual players, PoE2 punishes you for launching the game, and LE while it isn't perfect, has a nice balance. I'd really like PoE2 if leveling wasn't a slog. I really hope the devs address that at some point because it is a good game, but too much of a grind and this comes from a guy who has spent 6k hours in Destiny 2...so fuck PoE2's grind.

Definitely different experiences. LE keeps throwing gear at me; whereas POE2 i basically have to buy the gear with div or exalted orbs. I got my warlock acolyte to i think 55 last night and have had so many unique, legendary, and set pieces drop that each subsequent character will be easier.

Both endgame are a bit boring though. At least POE2 is still early access and missing acts 4,5,6. Also missing half the classes and weapons, so there's a lot more content coming.

Pretty good indicator of people wanting something. Now if only they don't screw up Elder Scrolls 6. Based on this though, I'd imagine they will do yet another remaster of Skyrim.. I mean.. I only own that game 4 times over so far, what's another remaster in Unreal?

Started Playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I decided to not consume any real media on it besides a review or two. It's pretty stylish as a JRPG style turn-based RPG with a dodge/parry mechanic and real-time events - Think Final Fantasy, but set in a "world mixing fantasy and European "Belle Époque" art influences." Below graphic is a good Indications that this game is doing well. Great first release of the French studio and looks like they put a lot of love into the game. No capitulations for "modern audiences" in the so called culture war too.

I've been very impressed with what I've seen thus far. Aztecross is currently going through the game and it's been fun to watch. Might actually be a game I spend my money on :-)
