Last night I loaded into 4 singles FPP where I died as soon as I landed. One was even by getting hit in the head with a frying pan. I rage quite soon after that and went to bed. The game can be fun, but is highly rage inducing.

Protip: don't forget to switch to auto lol

I think duo or squads makes the game wildly less rage prone. The mistakes that cost people a win when two or three others are watching, like missing a window with a molly and setting yourself on fire, can be hysterical. All alone, that would be rough.

One of my duo matches w/ @ke4gde went like this:

k: We're going to the shooting range.
me: Two guys just landed.
k: We're on the other side.
Me: Cool.
k: Here's a shot gun.
(5 sec. later: gunfire)
k: Contact west.
(I watch a body drop then more gunfire)
(I move to loot the dead bad guy)
(I don't math so good)
(The lone survivor drops us within 5 seconds of each other)

Time elapsed from landing to death: less than 30 seconds.

Those first 30 seconds of awkward 1st person gun fights are usually the best. At best you get a shotgun and go ham, at worst there is a horribly pathetic death full of whiffs and spastic m1 mashing.

Hot point lz's (range/any containers/school/military/apts/prison) are almost always 50/50 on if you are going to get kitted out or are spectating in 30 seconds. The houses (3 in a triangle 1-200M apart) just SE of shooting range kits out a 2 or 3 stack and nobody drops there ever. I will shoot you guys a PM w/ my steam id if you ever want to stack. I queue w/ @Ves when our time zones align, would be fun to get an SS squad game.

Been playing with my Oculus Rift a bit more again. Figured I'd write up a quick review for you guys.

Since buying the Touch controllers, I'd have to say I'm pretty impressed with the intuitive nature of them. Having played a bit with the HTC Vive, there is no comparison in controller feel. Granted I've heard HTC is coming out with something called knuckles, but haven't looked into it.

Problem is lack of solid AAA game content and overly simplified content playing with what the devices are capable of. I hope that the price point keeps getting lower so that more people get an opportunity to play with it because it does demo well. I usually bring people through Oculus Dream Deck, First Contact, and then maybe Google Earth. If they do well with that, I take them to Robo Recall. Which might be too fast paced for some. I wish I was into driving games or flight sims, because most of the hardcore gamers I've seen online that have all the specialty controllers and immersion experience are moving towards VR.

One scene in the Oculus Dream Deck has a reduced polygon camp scene (below) that looks incredibly fake, but when you add the immersion of VR, it suddenly becomes more real than you think.

Another scene had my buddy get a bit of vertigo while looking down from a building.

Bottom line, I don't think I would have ever gotten this on my own if it hadn't been given to me for free after kickstarting the dev kit. This thing is amazing compared to the dev kit experience and I can't wait to see what the big and indie developers out there come out with in the future.

Been playing the COD WWII beta....only two maps right now....really pretty fun, like the backgrounds. Can't wait for the full release, I am expecting a pretty enjoyable campaign.

Hard agree. This is the reason why I ended up selling mine - there really weren't any games that I would want to play for more than 2 or 3 hours total. EVE Valkyrie held my attention for a little bit, but the high price point and niche factor of the Oculus ensured that it didn't have a big enough multiplayer community.

Latest PUBG action. Man, I suck at this game though I've never played against people who are far more dynamic than any AI.

Game 1: Lag. Die. Quit to lobby.
Game 2. Restricted zone is on the opposite side of the map. Run marathon. Die from unknown gunshots. Quit to lobby.
Game 3: Drop on a house with another player. Beat him to a weapon (1911). Empty mag w/o killing him. Head punch. KO'd by death. Quit to lobby.
4: I has GAZ. Drive like madman. Acquire M16A4 and a red dot. "We're in business." Takes headshot from Mars. Dies. Quit to lobby.
5: Acquires UMP w/ red dot. HK416 w/ red dot. Doesn't see anyone except in the distance. Caught by restricting zone bubble. Runs. Dies near the quarry. Quit to lobby.
6. Can only find a pistol. Engages guy in the grass in front of me. Scores hits. Optimistic. Shot from behind by unseen third party. Quit to lobby.

The funny part is, I'm not even mad. Even when a guy punched me to death, I didn't rage quit. I laughed. With no chat feature and no audio chat, I don't listen to any trash talk. You play your match and that's it.

A+++++, will play (die) again.

No trash talk...A+++++, will play (die) again.

No trash talk is literally the best. I duo'd last night for two hours w/ a buddy who just got the game, we only dropped in high populated lz's, and searched for every kill we could because we think gun battles early game are the best way to get better quick. Given the minimal reload time to hop in a new game, dying doesn't matter as much. I think that is the second best part. Best we did was 8th place, average was living for about 3 minutes total and getting 5 kills combined. We would do better if we weren't so aggressive but for a new player getting confidence in gun battles is huge, so we just got in as many fights as we could.

That is the most frustrating part for me. Jumping in somewhere and insta dying because no weapons are nearby. I have no patience for that.

Sometimes the mechanics/physics/hit detection/loot tables on that game are utter trash. Honestly, I hate the game but I still play because it was a gift and because most of the guys I know play it too. I rarely play alone. There is a global voice chat, but it is set to squad by default. Don't turn it on unless you want ear cancer lol. The idea of practicing by jumping into hot LZs is a good one. So far I have found the best strategy is to wear headphones and crank up the volume. You can hear someone in your building or hear them from the outside in. Removing your shoes and playing barefooted will help to quiet your run/walk. Doesn't cancel the noise, but it seriously mitigates it. When parachuting face the direction you want to go and look at the horizon in free look. That will let you travel the farthest. To get lower openings point straight down and reach max velocity (234). If you have an older computer and it seems you are moving a little choppy, drop your video preferences. I run mine on very low, otherwise I get really choppy. You can underhand nades by holding left mouse button and cooking the nade, then hold right mouse button to switch to underhand throw and let loose.

The devs are a bunch of pussies that trigger easily. One of them was triggered and banned someone because he said he was gonna kick his ass on twitter and the dev got a PTSD flashback to being roughed up in college. :whatever: There are even players that have been banned because they killed a famous streamer and the streamer complained (claiming stream sniping even though that is virtually impossible to prove), or when they are followed around with the horn honking constantly. Having said all of that, the game can be fun with a team of people you know. As with anything YMMV.

Oh, if your team needs external comms our Teamspeak is open to anyone who needs it. We have a few channels for PUBG. xsvgaming.ts.nfoservers.com If I am in there I am under Currahee320 Happy hunting. Pochinki is NOT my city. :ROFLMAO:

Woah. Didn't realize team speak was still a thing. Too much lag.

Made it to #6 in a match with 2 kills. I spent most of the match only with an Uzi while running forever, crossing a river, etc., but I made it to #6 without camping. That's a victory. Good night, America!

Have you watched successful people play before? Especially the ones that consistently win.

I've also watched some great rage quit videos.

I use discord quite a bit. Still use TS and Ves likes ventrilo so I hop on that sometimes. My settings for most PvP FPS games is on low, not primarily for performance, but because it is white noise. Beautiful graphics are beautiful, but they get in the way of what you really need to see which is an enemy character model and your cross-hair.

I think after a bit the game gets a solid flow to it and with a solid group stringing 3-4 wins in a row is doable.

Some other little things:
- Lower your sensitivity. The farther you are looking in game the lower it should be (scopes). Turn off mouse acceleration.
- Change your inventory key so you can run and look at it
- Sounds is a big thing in this game, use it to your advantage. ie: use shots to steer enemy squads into choke points
- Playing the circle is probably the biggest place where games are won and lost
- The guns have recoil patterns, pull down it will help in general.
- Don't let knocked down players crawl to safety, but don't immediately kill them if they appear alone. They will crawl towards their team on instinct most of the time, or attract another player. Downed players give a lot of information, especially about the status of their squad. A heavily kitted squad will usually always fight to revive, a poorly kitted one will run and might be worth chasing down for easy follow ups.
- Always pick up frag grenades. Throwing them when close never gives your position away, but might force an enemy squad to move & you can down more than one person. Especially helpful endgame to nade spam an area w/ 3 or 4.

Destiny 2 released yesterday....I like it, happy with it so far.
I don't know if you tried the beta, but if you did, how does it compare difficulty-wise?
I got bored pretty quickly with the beta, but I feel that's mostly due to how easy it was.
