Gaming thread

I love stellaris. Very deep strategy with a good amount of variety and a ton of mods. The only thing about it is if you want achievements you have to play in 'ironman' mode - no player saves, just autosave. There's nothing worse than getting 3 hours into a game, making an error in the type of fleet you built, and getting destroyed by a neighbor. Still, it makes the game interesting and impactful all the way through.

Paradox games are like that. I love their work, but their DLC policy is garbage. Europa Universalis 4? They are still cranking out DLC and the mod community for all of Paradox's games is ridiculously deep.

Been playing Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, it's a near direct continuation of the previous game but amps up the almost ridiculousness factor the game brings to the table. Not to mention the gun play feels amazing and it bringsa nice challenge so it doesn't feel like you're breeding through it.

It might be the first game I've ever wanted to achieve a 100% completion in.

I'm looking at it if only to break away from my usual. Thanks for the heads up.

Just realized that, that should have said breezing..whoops.

But to add, the story can drag a little during I think the second or third mission (it's when you're in Manhattan). But it kicks it back into gear right after, and I mean you're killing Nazis in every gore inducing way imaginable. Who doesn't like killing Nazis?

Motorsport Manager and its DLC are stupid cheap right now. MM also has Steam Workshop support, so it looked like the different sort of challenge I'm looking for.

Uplay has World in Conflict for free to download this week, and next week is supposed to be Assasin's Creed Black Flag. You don't have to download them immediately, but you do need to claim the offer and link the game to your account.

I picked up The Bureau : XCOM Declassified on humble bundle for free last week.

Not too bad for a 4 year old game

I bought the collector's version of WiC and got a nice little piece of the Berlin Wall with it. I wish I knew where that was.

Currently playing Sniper Elite 4. Love shooting Nazis.

The boys are playing "Fortnite" on the internet. 100 players killing each other in a shrinking AO, last one standing wins. Interesting to watch. Kind of a Hunger Games scenario except you get ARs, frags and rocket launchers as well as stabbing items.

I've also finished the COD:WWII campaign and I was a little disappointed. Liked the 1st-person bang-bang parts but got frustrated with all the hijacks. A lot of time spent holding a dead game controller. Too much plot and cinematics. I just want to kill Nazis.

Fortnite is a lot like PUBG, but with the ability to build things. Personally I'm not into either one, too much time stalking with a sudden death from someone you didn't see before you get to do anything... oh and bunny hopping is a strategy in both, which I hate.

Having fun with Elite Sniper 4 (Thanks to @SpitfireV for the mention). Still playing a lot of Paladins. Fast, furious fun FPS, but you need to be ready to die a lot with the changes that they put in.

Is Paladins worth getting into? I used to be extremely heavy into TF2 and Overwatch and while I enjoyed Smite (Hi-Rez last game), Paladins looks sort of sketchy to me, I don't know.

@Ocoka If you're wanting to just kill a ton of Nazis I'd reccomend the Wolfenstein series, the new one is si merging I've been hooked on a lot and while it does have a fair amount of cut scenes (to give back story to BJ and the previous game), the killing of Nazi scale is through the roof (not to mention you're fighting to liberate America).

There is also game modes dedicated to getting the highest score possible through chain kills and combos.

Otherwise I'd also reccomend what @ke4gde said and pickup Sniper Elite, sitting back with a sniper rifle in a virtual environment shooting Nazis in the family jewels have never been so fun.

It's a lot of fun and quite a bit of strategy in a constantly evolving situation. That said, the game is having a major change next Tuesday or Wednesday that makes the TTL/TTK (Time to Live/Time to Kill) significantly shorter. We'll see if that change actually goes through or not. Here's some gameplay from one of my competitive placement matches. It's a bit older, but you can see how fast the game moved. It's faster now.

OK, just ran across Squad in Steam. It looks very interesting. Anyone played it?

It's your typical milsim shooter, slow, clunky, die from someone looking at you funny. But it is a lot of fun, imagine if battlefield toned down the ridiculousness factor and was actually as "realistic" as some people say it is.

I enjoyed this a little bit more than Arma 3, from a purely get on with some friends and play for a little bit perspective. (I feel like Arma is meant more for massive set pieces and long missions). But I highly reccomend you play it with some friends or you find a server that meets what you want to get out of it (there are those who treat it as if its real life, and then there are those who just want to do some shenanigans, both can be fun just know what you're going to get).

Squad is ok with friends. Honestly there are better games out there that do more and are more solid. The game feels clunky. It can be a lot of fun, but it can also be extremely frustrating. I got it in July and played less than an hour on it since I got it. If it is part of a Steam sale then I would get it if you have friends to play with. Otherwise I wouldn't bother with it. YMMV.
