Gaming thread

Is it turn based or RTS? I am having a hard time finding out. Not sure how I would like turn-based games. It seems way too slow to be enjoyable. That's why I like RTS and why when Endless Space 2 was on sale over the holidays, I skipped it.

It's a real time grand strategy game, so while not as fast paced as say Starcraft or Command and Conquer, it's not turn based. If you've played other Grand Strategy games by Paradox you'll get the same thing here, however you can always change the settings to increase the speed of gameplay so your experience is what you make of it.

Paradox makes amazing RTS' and then has one of the worst DLC policies known to man.

Yeah their DLC policy puts triple AAA publishers like EA and Activision to shame.

But really if you're going to let a $19.99 reskin pack for only 5 models get in the way of your hedonism and being excommunicated by the Pope then proceeding to topple all of Christendom out of spite, well, quite frankly I question your commitment.

The DLC for Hearts of Iron 4 is pretty sad, stuff already done by modders within weeks of the initial release. The music and skin packs...meh. My biggest gripe is they have considered DLC as a pre-req for some patches. Buy the DLC or play an unpatched game. Anemic, full-priced DLC with the patch tie-in? Yeah, that sucks.

Its fun, at times. I don't have a lot of experience with 4X games, but Stellaris seems to be more of a waiting festival than other games in the genre, even other from Paradox. If you do get it, I'd say that Leviathans and Utopia change the game enough to be worth buying (don't own Synthetic Dawn or Apocalypse, so I can't comment on those), and I'd even go as far to say that Utopia is a must have because of the Ascension Perks that it adds, letting you advance further down the Synthetic, Biological and Psionic trees than you could in the base game. While I haven't played it myself, I have several friends who prefer Endless Space 2 for a space 4x game. It doesn't have a sale on steam going on at the moment, though.

Looks like they are having a sale on these DLCs. at least for another 43 hours at the time I am writing this.

Utopia sounds cool.. and maybe Synthetic Dawn

I'd also be curious if there are any mod alternatives to these DLCs. Stellaris mod: RPG Traits • r/stellarisrpg provides some good threads, as well as some of the Steam offerings.

Hubby sent me this today because he knew my care factor was zero while he loyally recharged my portals.

So it only took around 3.5 years and I suspect it’s the recent banning of some scrapers who do target me that I finally got my Guardian. Still, I’m honestly surprised I got my badge. I feel I should be more excited...:hmm:

Ubisoft is selling everything this week. Ghost Recon Wildlands is pretty good so far. There's a bit of a learning curve, but nothing bad.

Took a while to beat it, but it was fun with a great story line. The ending kinda sucked for me, but the alternate ending should have been used as the prime one.

Keep an eye out for the Predator event. It is a special mission (they will usually advertise it) where you go into a jungle region and have to fight the Predator. Cloak and all. Bring your A-Team cause that guy is no joke. Oh, and their conversations are hilarious.

After a bunch of weekends and my entire spring break, finally finished 'Horizon Zero Dawn'. Game just reinforced my love of redheads.

When things slow down a bit I'm going to pick up 'Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom'. If you are a fan of Studio Ghibli character design and music scoring you might want to check it out. It's on steam for the master PC race as well...:ROFLMAO::p
