Picked up Far Cry 5. Highly reccomended, its jam packed with things to do and you can murica til youd hearts content with how much explosions and chaos you can cause. Its somewhat like Just Cause minus the destructability and the wackiness is toned down.

So I know I said that the wackiness was toned down, but that was before I just played a mission where you go to a stockyard to "save" a bunch of animals but end up blowing everything up. Cows, pigs, bears, running around...all on fire. All with a conspiracy nut job animal lover doing the burning/exploding.

@SaintKP I hear good things about Farcry 5, just not sure if i want to give Ubisoft money. Also, what system are you running it on? I was thinking about picking it up used in a few months but i keep hearing that you have to be logged into the PS network or Xbox live to run the game, something which i'm not sure i want to do.

@R.Caerbannog I felt the same way in terms of Ubisoft but it seems like they did a good job with this one. I'm a console peasant (Xbox) and from testing it you need to be signed into a profile, but apparently the campaign can be played offline.

ETA: By that I mean as long as you have a playstation or xbox profile you can play the game without having the membership (Gold or Plus) so you wouldn't need access to the internet if that's a concern as well.

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up! I'm a console peasant as well (PS4) and having to sign into another one of Ubisofts authentication services was a deal breaker for me. I get that they are trying to counter piracy, but i don't wanna have to authenticate and add background processes to my console just to play a campaign. I did the authentication thing with Mass Effect: Andromeda on my gaming PC and have yet to uninstall the abortion that is Origin.

It was/am kind of disappointed in far cry 5. It started great but the amount you have to grind for a decent weapon seems like it’s aimed at micro-transactions. And you’re way too powerful. The old games were more of a run-fight-run guerilla warfare style. This one seems to be a race to get the M60 and decimate everything with it. You also have some sort of immortal assasin dog that can clear out a base on his own. They knocked the graphics out of the park. But still...I’d rather be in Pochinki.

We need a PUBG rally. Any preferred dates?

Down whenever.

The event right now is pretty solid. 8 man teams on the good map FPP or TPP. Nice thing is flare guns used in the circle drop all the good weapons and loot.

I think it ends tomorrow night

I'm starting to get what you mean in terms of it being grindy, the first region I went to was a lot of fun for me (John Seeds) and didnt feel like I was just trying to trudge my way through but after finishing up my second region (Faiths) it felt like pulling teeth. I don't know if it's because of how the region is set up terrain wise or if it was the new enemy type or just the missions in that region in general. I just made it to Jacob's region and I'm enjoying it so far (I made a beeline straight for hurk) so I'm hoping it turns out well.

Personally I only ever used the dog for scouting/highlighting everything in sight, and yeah while I've enjoyed it so far I'd still rather be tackling greater rifts in Diablo 3.

Whelp, my lower GTX 780 now no longer shows up on system information and it's fan is stuck at 100% (and annoying as piss, considering this system normally is silent unless I'm really playing something intense)... so I more than likely will be ordering a 1070 this weekend.

Our xbox1 has to be unplugged and replugged and operates for only 40 minutes before the next reboot, so off to Wally World to buy another. Very psyched about getting the Fortnight fans in the family to transition to PUBG.

Y'know, I go back to Spectrum Holobytes Falcon 3.0, which I freaking loved...and the only reason I stayed with this crazy chick in the early 90s was because she had Super Nintendo and I was addicted to Legend of Zelda.

Seriously, I miss Falcon 3.0 even thought the graphics were lame...I still enjoyed clusterbombing Baghdad.

LOMAC (Lock-On Modern Air Combat) made Falcon look like Microsoft Flight Sim 1.0.

And you could fly an A-10.

With Tactical warheads.

Got an XBOX One "S" yesterday. Apparently a ramped-up version. Came with a big PUBG image on the front of the box, a big marketing tie-in with the game.

I was lucky enough to pick up a 1080 before the bitcoin mining people got wind of it. 1070 should still be future proof for a bit though

There isn't much difference.

UserBenchmark: Nvidia GTX 1070-Ti vs 1080

Now tie that into 60hz displays, extra rendering power is wasted and even if I go with adding https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UC88-B-34-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01B9IDL4I to the mix, it's still 60hz. And yes, that would mean a single ultrawide with a top row of triple displays on my system, at least until the wife/kid need monitors of their own, at which point I'll shed displays as necessary... or buy them QHD monitors themselves.

Keep in mind you are comparing to different classes of each too. Bump the 1080 to the GTX 1080 Ti (what I have), and I think the difference becomes a bit more significant.

point taken though.

I'm trying to get into a quad monitor setup at the moment, 2x2. The problem is that the three 28" monitors I'm using now (two 1920x1200 and one 4k) aren't really appropriate for that. So looking for maybe four 3k monitors or something, but the price point is too great for the lack of market. Will probably just wait a bit more for 4Ks to come down.

Got the quad retrofitted x649b donut incubator z6 monitor gumby with the i-eagle hammerhead photon beam splitter 230k pro-biotic vacuum fluctuator. It works great.
