Gaming thread

Yup. Though I'm wondering which timeframe the game will take place in. Considering the dates that have been used in the franchise universe I'm guessing the game might take place in a more recent timeline. My guess is 90's to 00's.

Loving Bezmenov's narration too, they say art imitates life and so forth.
I think it'll be a bit earlier than that, the wall fell in 1990. Unless they bring the defector conspiracy back and it's a modern game with a russian spy in American intelligence. I think it'll be around/near the space race, 60's or 70's, hopefully they bring back Vietnam maps? I loved being a tunnel rat in the original black ops. 8-)

With the trailers allusion to 'Perseus' and Bezmenov's warnings I figured the game would take place before the events of MW. Possibly during or after the fall of the Berlin wall. Maybe the fall of the USSR and the inner turmoil regarding the rush for resources/weapons will serve as the backdrop to the story.

Could also explain/expand upon the origins of the nukes, green gas, and armament from the earlier COD titles.

Yeah, it should take place before MW, maybe it's just me wanting another game where we can crouch through a tunnel with a .357 magnum and a flashlight. :-)

I could be wrong, just figured the fall of the USSR and all the crazy internal stuff that happened would be good game fodder.

As an aside, I once took a political science class on Russia and the teacher was seriously focused on the events that occurred after the fall of the USSR. What wasn't lost in translation or crappy editing was insane.

I was thinking maybe 80s early 90s, they've visited Vietnam already and they've done modern settings already.
i feel it's the most likely outcome, but I'm just a sucker for Vietnam aesthetics. That's what I grew up reading about and watching movies on. As an aside, my grandfather was also in country for three years on two different trips carrying a 60, and later went on to change branches of service and do 24 yrs in the Air Force. So that part of history is pretty near and dear to me.

So a 3080ti will cost 2.5k.
Probably not. One part of the announcement said to consider the 3090 equivalent to the Titan cards of previous generations, and those were always more expensive than the 1080Ti/2080Ti. I bet the 3080 Ti will probably be closer to $1100/1200

Call of Duty is switching it's competitive platform over from PS to PC this year as well. I'm not sure if it's a major shake up for Sony or not. From what I read so far, which wasn't much, is the switch will allow the orgs and players more freedom to cash in on in game purchases for team specific swag. The payout would be Activision, the teams, and then the player. Currently, the Sony playstore gets their cut as well. The transition removes the store fees.

For those that aren't in the space, Call of Duty is in their first year of their professional sports league and franchise buy-in was $25m.

We will see how Black Ops does this year. A lot of people are already complaining that the maps are bad. Warzone is the only hope for them.
