So a 3080ti will cost 2.5k.
Probably not. One part of the announcement said to consider the 3090 equivalent to the Titan cards of previous generations, and those were always more expensive than the 1080Ti/2080Ti. I bet the 3080 Ti will probably be closer to $1100/1200

Call of Duty is switching it's competitive platform over from PS to PC this year as well. I'm not sure if it's a major shake up for Sony or not. From what I read so far, which wasn't much, is the switch will allow the orgs and players more freedom to cash in on in game purchases for team specific swag. The payout would be Activision, the teams, and then the player. Currently, the Sony playstore gets their cut as well. The transition removes the store fees.

For those that aren't in the space, Call of Duty is in their first year of their professional sports league and franchise buy-in was $25m.

We will see how Black Ops does this year. A lot of people are already complaining that the maps are bad. Warzone is the only hope for them.

I reckon it would be a massive folly to make either (or both) of those platform exclusive.

100% agree. The precedents set would make me think of timed exclusivity for some content and/ or things like custom badges, uniforms, whatever (I don't play COD, but Bungie's done this w/ Destiny) for certain platforms or distro locations (Borderlands 3 and Epic vs. Steam comes to mind).

---

A game changer (see what I did there?) would be to make a viable PvP cross platform game, but balancing the aim of a PC and superior movement vs. a controller would be interesting. Gaming communities are salty enough as is. Bungie claims it is working on this for Destiny 2, but I don't know how well COD's is performing.

---

Microsoft buying Bethesda could really go either way. Either it provides resources for Bethesda to crank out more and/ or better content...or MS gets involved in game development and ruins the franchise. Maybe it improves Bethesda's quality? Maybe the influx of money allows more devs, even at subcontracted studios, to work on Elder Scrolls 6? Activision tried its best to ruin the Destiny franchise, but the loss of Activision's resources have plagued Bungie as well. The buyout could go in a bunch of directions.

I find it funny that Microsoft now owns Bethesda, Obsidian AND inXile. Guess they love Post-apocalyptic RPGs.

I believe you're confusing Bethesda and Activision here (though I could also just be reading it wrong).

Well, the CoD League will require controllers even though they moved to PC. Should be interesting.

I'm curious how the rollout of the PS5 will work with PS5 orders of CoD. Any chance they allow pre-orders to DL for ps4 in the interim until Sony can roll them out in better numbers?

You are correct. I had tunnel vision thinking about Activision/ Bungie. I'll amend my original post.

Ima vent for a second:

This week in D2 has been AMAZING. Double loot on 1080 Nightfalls and GM runs. I'm farming that shit like an Alabama sharecropper: even if the fields produce nothing, I'm still plowing.

Weekly reset is at 1300 PST I believe. Tonight the entire planet was cramming in last minute 1080 and GM farms.

Bungie killed that shit with 5 minutes' warning before the weekly reset... but an HOUR before the weekly reset. Thank you for stopping by, ya' outta here!

Thank you for the runs, Bungie. Fuck you for the end, Bungie.

Man, did I get some decent materials and few bomb ass exotics. Sigh...Just. One. More. Hour...

In all honesty: If you've taken some time out, sat out this season....I don't care. If you want to run with someone to help you with Destiny 2 content...holla at ya boy. I'm not the best, I'm not the worst, but I'm down to help out a member on a quest or whatever. Mic, no mic, PvE, PvP, whatever, we'll figure it out. Level you up before the next season? Let's go. Quests? I'm in. Farming whatever? I only need bathroom and "refreshment" breaks.

Stukas fly for everyone and everything. PM if you want in, we'll figure out a schedule

Something I didn't realize, MS now owns Bethesda and Obsidian, the team that brought you Fallout: New Vegas.

ETA: My man @Raptor beating me to the MS/ Bethesda/ Obsidian punch.

Would certainly be interesting way to generate lots of hype and excitement. Considering how big the ramifications of the Courier's choices are from the first game, it would be quite the undertaking to ensure that those choices are adequately realized this time around.

Doesn't this leave basically BioWare, Larian, and CD Projekt Red as the only established non-MS Studios creating Western RPGs now?

Considering that BLOPS Cold War was shown at a Sony virtual presser, I imagine the current advertising cross promotion with Sony isn't going anywhere for now. Switching competitive platform from Sony would certainly please a lot of my friends who are on PC though, with very little in the way of tanking the PS sales since non competitive gamers pay attention to advertising deals.
