Our commander sends out updates when he has them. Excerpts from this week's. Bold is my emphasis on his words.
- The new information and changes continue to come quickly – so fast that even at the highest levels of leadership, sometimes our Chain of Command hears about new directives from the news or X at the same time all the rest of us do.
- Based on the direction to meet with DOGE, as well as what we see happening at the other government departments, [our MAJCOM] has decided to enter a hiring pause until we get a little more clarity on the way ahead (hopefully this week). Note, this is a pause – no actions should be cancelled at this time…but none should be advanced/started either. If we have already extended offers, we will honor them and continue the onboarding process. We are doing this out of an abundance of caution due to what is happening throughout the government with probationary employees. We have not been told we will be impacted the same way as the other departments, but we have not been told we won’t either. The lack of a mandated hiring freeze, but DOGE messaging to the contrary, are giving us mixed messages.
- We had 37 names across almost every department, ranging from entry level to division heads. [Command] has agreed to endorse all the people that applied for approval. This doesn’t mean they are approved yet...TBD if the EO’s 1:4 backfill ratio will apply to DoD.
I'm not rooting for DOGE to fail, but who in their right mind thinks this is okay? If you look at the NNSA firings, an org believing it was exempt based on previous messaging in EO's, that was amateur hour. This is insane. FOGOs hearing about something on social media instead of their chain? Inconsistent messaging. Lies.
How can anyone endorse this process?
