Israel and Iran

If the media gets their hands on it - a single Marine security guard being reassigned to one of our Embassies in the middle east is going to be messaged as "boots on the ground"

Does anybody remember that one time when we went to war - and then established permanent military bases in each of our enemies countries - and then NEVER came home from that war - because hashtagbootsontheground ???

We STILL have "boots on the ground" in Japan, Italy, Korea, and Germany...
...because hashtagbootsontheground

Also because bed people don't behave unless you smack them in the lips. The problem is, smacking people in the lips has consequences. That doesn't relieve that fact that there will ALWAYS be people that need to be smacked in the lips repeatedly to keep them in line. My grief has never been the media reviled trope of "boots on the ground" my grief is keeping them properly invested while they are there.

But, Box - what about the "No boots on the ground" campaign promise ???
Ok, fine.

WW2 is over and the Marines cause WAY too much trouble for us to have a "REAL" excuse to keep ground combat forces in Japan.
...everyone get one the phone, call your elected representative, and lets FINALLY get those US Marines home from the WW2 deployment.

-Same goes for Italy. The 173rd isn't doing ANYTHING to keep the Italians in line. The Italians are our allies now. Lets get the rest of our WW2 paratroopers back home to their families !!!

-Same goes for Germany - my ancestors left Germany after they lost WW1 - they came to the USA and joined OUR Navy - and then they came home after landing at Anzio.

-Same goes for Korea. Why in the world are we keeping the 2nd ID there when we aren't fighting the NORKs ?? They are nothing more than a speed bump and everyone knows it. The 2nd ID cannot win a war in Korea. They are only there to be butchered on the global stage so the USA has a reason to butt fuck the NORKS even further into the Stone Age for killing our troops and yet, everyone seems OK with THAT as a strategy.

A MEU, a Brigade of Paratroopers, maybe even a few tank BNs on the border...
...are NOT enough to do any real damage against a determined Iranian force and every G.O. in the DoW knows it.

Perhaps we should be seeing a bunch of ground combatant General Officers doing a full on Joe Kent - because they know that the deployed force isn't enough to pull off an invasion without getting decimated - truth to power and all that jazz...

Or maybe - just maybe - its just a warning - posturing - movement of troops that were going to move ANYWAY and just letting the media do the Iranian psyop free of charge...

Hell, maybe it is a buildup - maybe the Iranians are prepared to go full retard and we really are going to have to smack ALL of them in the lips.
Who knows.

But the enemy ALWAYS get a vote and we have to live with the results. I for one, think the world is a better place with a periodic ruination of the Persian empire so I'm just going to wait this out and see what happens while I rest on my ruthless dedication to accepting that anything the US government says is the truth about UFO and aliens. In that same line of thinking, I feel that exact same way about everything the establishment media outlets say when they start reporting on foreign policy when republicans are in office.

If Barack Robbinette Obiden was still in office, we would be watching news reports about the current effort in Iran being part of the best goddamned military strategy since Hannibal Lechter and the rest of his Carpathians rode their war elephants into the Swiss Alps...
...but Barack Robbinette Obiden isn't in office any more
...he's busy saying aliens exist, and making Ewetoob political campaign videos about republicans stealing elections
...so we are counting boots
...because boots on the ground are a sign of failure
...unless democrats do it

Just my two cents - I could be wrong.

Why did this give me a mildly painful erection?

I'd need to find a better article, but nothing has indicated that this is DRB, in fact I don't think we'd hear about it. My understanding is this unit was scheduled for a CENTCOM rotation. Could be wrong though. Articles I've seen say 1,500 Soldiers which is not many.

There were 30ish C-17s from Hunter, Bragg, MacDill, and Lewis today. Sure seems like the exact grouping of folks who would be involved in a forced entry operation. Two Ranger Battalions and the associated 160th elements moving into position most likely.

We ain't talking Grenada or Panama. Or even Iraq. That is a big ass country. Are we really thinking inserting a corps (as in multiple divisions and not Marine Corps) or two? I cannot believe that we are. I refuse to believe we are.

The MEU I get, it's a small Swiss army knife that can do a few things and kill people is just one of those things. But small forces in onesies and twosies I don't get and I don't like.
The 82nd is heading over to rescue the MEU if/when they get in over their heads.

Just kidding (mostly)

Having worked in Abu Dhabi for 6 years and been around the ADA guys and blah, blah, blah, I've always wondered if we could keep up with Iranian attacks. I know what the Patriot guys said and could think of, and trained for, scenarios where we couldn't. Those results were ugly.

Anyway, despite not being privy to interceptor stockpiles and the entirety of our battle plans, you didn't need heavy mental lifting to realize that Iran could put out drones and TBM's faster than we can build Patriots and AMRAAMs. So we talked about this in '21 when I was last there, but never "knew", and now we know because it is playing out in front of the world.

Which is a lot to say I wonder if the US and our puppet masters valued allies and partners in Israel counted on bringing Iran to the table before our stockpiles were depleted? Here's where the Houthis come into play because those same interceptors being used against Iran are the ones the UAE and Saudi used against the Houthis' limited attacks on those nations a few years ago. A new front coming from Yemen on the Red Sea and with TBM's into Saudi Arabia and the UAE could actually pose real problems.

Food for thought as we watch this play out.

And damn the Neocons for eternity for not solving this in 2003. I'm sure glad we showed Iraq what's up...

It's almost as if the middle east has been this way for thousands of years and western civilization has just adopted a policy of "blind eye" diplomacy propped up for generations by empty diplomacy, "peace bribes" disguised as humanitarian aid, and the hope that someday, radical Islam would settle down and play nice.

Somebody really should do something about this before things get out of hand.

You're old enough to remember how on Sunday the talking heads and junior congressclown from wherever would go on a Sunday morning show like Meet the Press? That person would then carry the water for the administration or one party or the other, but it was "their" opinion or editorial?

I like the SRS, but it increasingly feels like it is today's Meet the Press. THE stop you have to make for prestige, optics, the spotlight, etc.

Are we at a point where large podcasts are the new MSM and can't be trusted?

Absolutely agreed.

I can see many sides but I don't trust an Fing thing that I hear now, other that the Bible, my wife and those I love.

The fact that some folks will blindly follow these people without critical thinking skills or independent thought is astounding.

Since we started treating twitter and podcasts as worth reporting on, yes. It's been mainstream since Rogan blew up bigger than most MSM channels in 2018-2019.

Welp, that settles it for me. This guy went on the Shawn Ryan Show, so I reckon he speaks The Truth™"
Vets can't go on a Vet Podcast and lie, exaggerate, or even show bias - because they are above reproach.
- in fact, "a lot of people have just forgot who the fuck he is and what he has done for this country"
Thank you for your service Joe
Thank you for what you did for us.
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
...and than YOU Mr Ryan for reminding us that we are "lesser"

EweToob Podcast + "LIKES" = "The Truth™"

How dare I not exalt this guy for his service.
Sorry Joe and I apologize for any thread of doubt - YOU.ARE.THE.MAN.
You too Shawn - you're the man too....

I believe everything now.

I can't listen to an entire SRS Podcast.
Never could - don't think I'll ever have the discipline to sit and listen to all the the grandstanding and autoerotic ego stroking.
I can listen in short bursts as I drag the slider across the time line...
...other wise it sounds like the reason he quit is exactly what he wrote on the letter than he published on open source social media.
...backed up by all of his reasons why Israel = bad and Joe Kent foreign policy opinions = good

I just don't want to comment toooo heavily because people will think I forgot just who the fuck he is and what he has done for this country.

He's going on like 10 podcasts. As I said, this has nothing to do with principles. When you leave based on principle it's three sentences. There's money to be made.

We got there 15 minutes ago, where you been?

I have no opinion of Joe Kent...for now. However I do want to make it known that when I first saw a clip of him on his time with SRS I was asking myself why my radar went off as he looked like he was a person with a chip on his shoulder and was overly cocky like a typical kind only an asshat would consist of. I never watched the actual podcast because I wasn't interested in being proven right or wrong. Just wasn't my thing as I have made it known in the past to not self trigger myself.

However when Marauder mentioned watching it while doing cardio, it did give me the idea to weaponize any possible triggering and making me sweat even more. I guess this tangent being trivial as it was, was worth mentioning.
