Understood. As stated, I plan to read those older discussions before responding in depth on the specifics of the border bill. Maybe my thoughts on it will even change by the time I go through all of that.
There's a lot in those threads. Hours worth of reading if you use the internet to research all the points made.
That is why I’m here (aside from my larger aspirations): To learn and engage in good faith debate about issues that are deeply important to me in this moment, from people who can challenge me and point out potential flaws in my reasoning.
I don't think you have flawed reasoning. I think, and I'm pretty sure I'm right on this one, you are young and prone to chase a lead that doesn't go anywhere because you want to cover all your bases. There is more disinformation and obfuscation than there is good info. You have to learn and re-learn the basics so you don't get sidetracked. No reason to bite the party line paraphrasing here: "Biden did as good on the border as anybody" when you understand the basic premises behind border enforcement and the asylum process. Read about the groups functioning in Mexico and S America who's job it was to explain American laws to migrants so they knew what to say (hide the truth) to get around border safeguards and claim asylum. Some of that was in instagram and X videos, some of the links may no longer work on ShadowSpear but the info is out there deep in the internet.
