On the thread topic, we saw the Black Panther movie a few days ago and liked it. I thought the costumes were beautiful and there were just enough laughs to keep it from going dark. Bibbers liked it and her friends at school were waiting until she saw it to play Black Panther so they are all happy...lol

I don't remember seeing anything about it here, but anyone have thoughts on The Shape of Water? Del Toro is usually a must see for me, but was looking for extra input.

This is for mobile (I don't have a computer so I don't know if it's any different), but you click on the icon with 3 blocks in a row and select the "spoiler" option and type what you want the spoiler tag to say. It'll automatically input the code for it to show up, all you need to do is type what you want to be hidden in between the two brackets

You can also do what I did and attach an image, but you need you make sure that you are in between the two brackets when you do otherwise it's going to turn out jacked up.

I don't have cable and I don't get out to watch movies often. But the hotel I stayed in over the weekend had HBO so I was able to watch "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them," which I thought was amusing and well-done, even as someone who's not into Harry Potter. It took me a minute to realize what movie I remembered that female lead from. It was definitely not a kid's movie...

I also wanted the latest in the Alien series... Covenant I think it was called? Pretty disappointing. I watched "Aliens" first and all of the rest of the genre, IMO, were but pale reflection.

I don't watch the Oscars or any of the award shows, but I wish I would have seen Gary Oldman's acceptance as it happened as well as this:

Native American actor Wes Studi, who discussed his Vietnam service with us earlier this year, appeared at the 90th Oscar Awards ceremony to introduce a video tribute to men and women in uniform. It's not the nomination (and win) Studi deserved for his performance in "Hostiles," but it's great to see a veteran on the Oscar stage. Studi stunned the crowd when he described his own service in Vietnam with Alpha Company of the 39th Infantry and then asked "Anyone else?" and got nervous laughter in response.

He did great....I think he was the 3/9...his label pin looked like the 9th IF Div. He said he volunteered, but when he asked "anyone else" it was awesome.



Gary Oldman's acceptance was very good, classy.

@medicchick if you’re referring to the comments, I prefer to steer clear from controversial topics, it’s why I add to this thread. If you’re referring to the movie, just a lot of hate. I found the silliness too distracting. The Hobbit movies were silly, but at least I laughed and I enjoyed them. There was nothing funny about Wonder Woman, just dumb.

@Ooh-Rah - I’m not offended. I was scratching my head if anything, and in any case, I didn’t care to engage further. So I’m good for final word...if you ignore all the words on this post...

Still not seeing the issues with Wonder Woman, it was banned in the Middle East because it showcased a woman as a Super Hero. Whereas previous appearances by Gal Gadot had not. Also, she's a smokeshow...with the way they did her costume I'm pretty sure of the audience they were targeting.

It's not about a woman as a superhero, it's that the leading actor is jewish.. the same reason why I can't go out to see Annihilation at the moment. It's been a thing here.

Anyone see Annihilation and also read the books? Curious to how much it deviates. I'm gonna have to torrent it or something

Umm... it’s Wonder Woman. Her costume has been pretty much the same since she was introduced in 1941. I didn’t think the movie outfit was over the top, and it wasn’t even shown until about halfway through the movie. Hell, Lynda Carter’s outfit was a bit more risqué than Gal Gadot’s. The movie outfit made more sense since it was designed as armor, whereas Carter wore what was essentially a one piece bathing suit with plenty of cleavage and hooker boots.
