Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

Avengers: Endgame is going to be HUGE. I'm impressed at how they're tied all the separate characters and movies from the Marvel Universe together.

I swear to holy sweet baby Patton if they kill off Iron Man I will be SO. DONE. 300% done. On a scale of 1-Tommen I will Be swan dive into the light of the seven done.
Well, my not so "spoiler" (trailers were out during Captain Marvel) is they must've found a way to bring back at least some of them because Spiderman has a new movie dropping on the 4th ot July. Last we saw, he wasn't feeling so good.

For as well as producers have done (per my previous post), you'd think they would have handled the release for this just a bit better; waited to promote later, pushed back the release, or something.

Not during my showing of it...

Meh. I really thought Jared Leto killed it as the Joker in Suicide Squad. That's who should be playing the Joker in the new film IMO; is Joaquin Pheonix too old for the role?

Two different Jokers. This one isn't part of the DCEU continuity .... [ that is unless the movie turns out so incredibly successful, WB actualy decides, he now is ] and I think it will be a great movie. Joaquin Pheonix' acting is just top tier, he always puts all his effort into it and from those small bits I can tell his performance kills it, again.

Am I allowed to say that the last two Star Wars movies aren't Canon? Because LucasFilm tells me that's not correct. You can't just make movies and say they aren't canon...that's what LucasFilm has told me.

If anyone can be a creep like or moreso than Ledger's joker it's definitely Joaquin.

You are not alone, and I don't care what Disney says. The third installment has to be some sort of miracle, like a timeless intellectual, artistic masterpiece to win me over, and say: "wow, this makes me completly forgive how bad the other 2 were" or "now everything makes perfect sense, I was so wrong !"

Am I too harsh here ?

SAY IT AGAIN FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK.

What I loved about Ledger’s joker was the way he leveraged tiny twitches, mannerisms and small movements in his role. I’ve said it time and again- there’s one scene that defines to me how hard Ladger nailed it- I’ll post it below and my reasoning why.

If there is ANYONE that can throw himself in a role and convey creepiness on a whole other level- especially what you need to portray normal the “human/bullied human/broken human/psychopath with no equal” transformation and make it seem like that’s the only option? Holla atcha boi WAkeen. He’s been merkin since Gladiator and you hated him then.

This scene encapsulates what I mean.

To watch the joker start from casually forgetting every fuck he ever gave walking in that room; dude walked in wearing an SVest cause he didn’t have room for his huge balls in his custom made purple velour suit. Then to make sure all these wanna be hard wanksters knew he was more Jessie James and less Jussie Smollet, he for real perpetrates a hate crime via pencil.

The coup de gras? Watch where Gamble interrupts him and corrects him on ‘freak’. You see it again later when Gamble tells him he’s crazy, and the Joker replies, “I’m not. I’m no-TT.” Those small subtle looks, the mouth tick and movement... fuck man. That’s the realest cat since XXXTentacion. RIP 🙏🏽

For a brief second, you see rage clot across his eyes and he seems interrupted. He changes tack from his prepared speech and counter punches with Gamble, and then paints his master stroke.

He guts the douchebag collective telling them he knows why they’re mad pussy, yo, and everyone knows it cause they meet in daytime.

Simple solution- we kill unkillable and you give me fucking half. Of errrrrrthang.

Walks out on his own two. That’s why Ledger nailed this role; Joaquin has the ability to truly access that crazy too. Hopefully it doesn’t lead to 7 xanny’s And a glass of wine.

Horey crap! Never seen such an detailed and succinct explanation behind the infamous pencil scene/trick. Definitely gonna have to re-watch the Dark Knight now. Ledger as the Joker was always disconcerting, but I couldn't figure out why. Now I know why Joaqim mannerisms in his trailer were also so disconcerting. Thanks for pointing the small details out dude!
