Superman is a nearly 90 whose singular defining trait is being an alien from another world who's super strong.

He can be (and has been) used to tell whatever stories the writer wants. He's been used to tell immigration allegory for decades.

ETA: Gunn doesn't even say it's about "immigration", but that Superman is an immigrant to this country.

Molly Hemingway said this was full of NATO propaganda...I have to say that all these anti-NATO shills in this country really need to starting understanding that WE are NATO. Everyone else is a passenger. So is that Pro-American propaganda?

Sir, you watch it and decide for yourself. I don't think that way. When TV goes on, Brain goes off. I usually don't look for anything that deep. I came to the table knowing the 4 main stars, and their background and wanted an action film with comedy. That's exactly what I got. It's very similar to THE BOYS! If you laughed during the WHALE SCENE....then this movie is for you.

Wife and I watched it last night. I enjoyed it a lot, just plain silly fun and fight scenes; a great way to zone out for a while.

Disclaimer:
I was also high AF on 20mg of THC beverages.

I've taken the approach of ignoring anything from one or two actors, Liam Neeson being AWP Enemy #1. My lone exception is the first Batman movie with Christian Bale.

Yes, it's a trivial stand that means nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I consider it a little victory, a little pushback.

I think the biggies out right now are that one (Ballerina), F1, Jurassic Something (I have not heard favorable reviews), 28 Years Later, Mission Impossible Part 84, The Impossibling, and Lilo and Stitch.

Most of those sound pretty good. I may just let her pick, we have similar tastes and I know she won't drag me to Lilo and Stitch. ;)

Jurassic World Rebirth

Scarlett Johansson is a mercenary (former MARSOC*) who gets hired by a pharmaceutical company because they "need dinosaur blood to synthesis a drug that prevents cardiac disease."

She gets a team built with former MARSOC buddies (Marshalla Ali and some british guy) to escort a pharma rep and paleontologist onto the island. Hijinks ensue.
B-plot is a dad doing a cross-Atlantic voyage with his two daughters and the older one's BF who accidentally wind up on the island.

Overall I think it's better than the Chris Pratt movies. Gareth Edwards (2014 Godzilla) was better about keeping the dinos more of a horror thing than action.

If you've got something like a Alamo Drafthouse around where you can get cheap tickets+food/beer it's an easy 7-8/10 big screen movie.

* IDK why MARSOC is the new Hollywood thing; a few years ago she'd have been a former Ranger, Green Beret, or SEAL.
 
Spent a solo afternoon watching Superman in IMAX. It was the best superhero movie done in a very long time. Easy to suspend belief for a while as they made it as true to the comics as they could. I might go see it again with my daughter.

Then watched Ballerina at home with the wife. Zero belief because she would have been dead countless times over. But it was a good mindless shooting and fighting movie.
