The Racing Thread

Good race. The field is so random now you just have no idea what it's going to look like.

After today's Q3 performances, the race better not suck tomorrow. Q3 was just too good to be followed by a shit race.

Stupid Lando.

As a McLaren fan, I has the sad. As an unrepentant OP81 fanboi, I had to explain to my wife why I was yelling "Ha ha, you stupid fuck" at the TV.

Mark Palpatine and Darth Piastri are coming and I'm all about watching Lando cry and Zak eat shit when he realizes his boy is the #2 driver.

Talk about conflicting loyalties lol. It's like when the Army Infantry and USMC Infantry are shit talking each other and then the coast jumps in and gets jumped by both.

AWP - "fuuuuuuuuuck Lando, Go Piastri! Oh you talking shit about McLaren??? Piastri and Lando coming for that ass!"

His presser on Thursday was horrible, so bad I was surprised at his practice and qualifying laps.

The info under the video?
We hear from the likes of Oscar Piastri, George Russell, Max Verstappen and the rest of the grid...

Lando is leading the points, but he third interviewed and F1 couldn't even put him in the blurb about the video? Lando, this is your time to shut down everyone including me who think you're too soft. He has the talent, but not the brain.

He's too emotional. Max is a killer. Piastri is a killer. He's baby poop. I like him, but man, he's such a bitch when he's down.

Max, you were flat wrong on the penalty. You were subjected to your own tactics and justifiably lost your protest/ tantrum. Your in-car view supports your argument, but with multiple external camera angles your argument falls flat. Had you made the case for swapping positions instead of time, that's an argument worth entertaining.

Warm regards,
Basically every non-Max fanboi.

I don't want to jinx the man, but he has to be the favorite right now. I wouldn't count Max or even Lando out because every race this season was won by the pole sitter. The talk of "clean air" seems to be true, tire deg and handling are poor when running behind others.

2026 is coming, so at what point will the front running teams stop upgrading the 2025 cars?

Mentally, unless Lando finds a truckload of killer instinct (the odds are against this), this is a fight between Oscar and Max. Oscar proved he won't allow Max to intimidate him. Lots of races left though.

With the just cap I don't think they stop spending money, especially if they're in a heated constructors battle. Perhaps if the points spread is large. But the teams like Haas and Williams? They're all in since they're in a good spot.

It isn't the money, but the time. Every day your engineers focus on 2025 is a day lost to 2026. Parts built for 2025 will count against this year's cap, but you can't make up the man hours spent in creating, testing, and building the designs.

I haven't been following F1 too closely, but as a race fan in general, this Antonelli kid's story is interesting. He's still in High School, racing F1, and now has a Netflix documentary"The Seat" coming out soon. Oh and he has a chance to win, starting 3rd on the grid tomorrow.

I hated hearing his name so often last season, but the dude is the real deal. He's one of the few drivers who seems to have fun out there and isn't taking himself so seriously. (Looking at you, Lando...)

I usually despise the new "boy wonder" coming to any new series. But to be honest, I find myself pulling for anyone who isn't cookie cutter nowadays and also has a chance to beat RedBull. Lol.

Spoilers

I want more of what Miami gave us this weekend. F1 races can be real snooze fests with the action coming down to watching and anticipating a team's strategy, but Miami? The first 20-ish laps were examples of fantastic racing. Max showed his ability to drive hard defensively, but clean. Lando showed he can mix it up when he needs to fight for a position.

And Oscar showed why he should be this year's champion.

There was racing through to the end across the entire field. Two engine failures, both Ferrari engines, made you wonder if another would happen. Hamilton reminded us he's still a whiny, ungrateful bitch who is washed up. All y'all riding 44's dick are stuck in the late teens, Abu Dhabi '21. He will have flashes of his former self, but he isn't the driver he used to be and y'all should stop acting like he has another WCC coming his way.

I've decided I do not like Liam Lawson and wish he'd go away. Carlos Sainz is an underrated driver.

More Miami, please.

Let's check in on my predictions at the beginning of the season:
1st place - Mclaren - Star talent, podium points scorers.
2nd place - Ferarri - Star talent, podium points scorers.
3rd place - Dare I say...Williams? - Two points scores.
4th place - Red Bull - Lawson isn't ready for the big show. Max will 100% be by himself up front.
5th place - Merc - Hampered by the rookie, George will have to fight up front by himself and I don't think he'll be able to do it consistently.
6th place - Racing Bulls - Hampered by the rookie, but could outplace Merc.
7th place - Aston - Alonso has to carry the weight of himself and the rookie.
8th place - Alpine - Gasly has to carry the rookie.
9th place - Haas - Ocon has to carry the rookie in a new car.
10th place - Kick - Just straight trash - They're just on a path to 2026.

1 - Nailed it, but not a daring choice. (-)
2 - Swing and a miss, I thought their car would be better and it looks like Charles has lost some form. (-2)
3 - Way too optimistic, I'll blame alcohol. (-2)
4 - RB brought a better car, but this is still a Max 3rd place. (+1)
5 - Did anyone see this coming? Kimi Antonelli is the real deal and when did Merc get this pace? (+3)
6 - I couldn't predict the day after Wed. on a calendar. They promoted Yuki? Really? (-2)
7 - Shit! I got another right?! Lance Stroll leads the team? Mother fu... (-)
8 - Right reasoning, wrong place. (-1)
9 - Another good rookie. I'm an idiot. (+3)
10 - What a daring choice. (-)

3 out of 10. I'm stupid.
