FBI is alleging that China interfered with the 2020 elections. The J6 committee. AIPAC influence. Domestic terror organizations funded by taxpayers and operating with impunity. These issues matter to the rank and file Trump voter, and unless they focus- the mid terms are not going to be pretty.

People aren't going to switch parties, the republicans are gonna throw their hands up and just not turn out, and that turn out is what won him the election. Things in America are bad enough now- he has to capitalize by focusing on what got him the election.

I think the thing about Trump and his way of speaking is that he's just crazy enough to do it. We (including global nations) wouldn't pay him any mind if he was just hyperbolic in his speech; its the fact that every so often he actually follows through. The unpredictability give a strength to him doing things like negotiations.

I will say regarding Iran specifically, Trump has less antagonists (both politically and philosophically) this administration. If he wants to attack, he doesn't have anyone who will challenge him. Realistically, he may have more hawks giving him advice now that he did 16-20.

To your bolded...Everyone that knows "how terrible Trump is" has to reconcile the fact that he can, he will, he's being advised to- and he isn't. It's been a super fun conversation for me to have lately.

He wants war? He's owned by Israel? He's terrible at negotiation? Ok- well why is he acting so consistently in this regard counter to those talking points, then?

A very good point. I think he's much more conscious of what decisions are going to be seen as "his alone" and which ones he can say "Secretary xyz did that".

First term he was more willing to listen to his staff and follow their guidance; this term he's setting his position and making them work around it.
 
Oddly enough - the first time around when Trump supposedly listened more to his staff; people like Mattis, Kelly, et all either deliberately or unintentionally "fucked" him. They all knew that regardless of what advice they gave him - HE AND HE ALONE - would own the results.
Then when things didn't turn out the way they wanted and they didn't reap praise that they thought they were due - they all ran off to write books and gave interviews about how much it sucked working for him.
Either way people in his cabinet were constantly undermining his efforts - and to what end?

The crazy thing- Jewish folks vote overwhelmingly D. Like, forever. 45% of Jews voted for Trump this last election cycle (up from 30%), but estimates on Jewish voting for Democrats is as high as 73% in some estimates, as low as around 63% in others.

Leaving won't help- they'll need to hold their nose and vote for Adams. Guess we will see if "it's bad enough" in Gotham.
 
I'm very much a "make the people live in what they voted for," but the problem is, what happens in NYC doesn't stay in NYC. It affects the entire state that I live in. Also, I have semi-regular trips to NYC, and the far-left policies implemented there adversely affect both quality of life and public safety. More importantly, it negatively affects the safety of my wife and daughters, who often go to NYC without me, and who aren't 6'5" 250# men who spent 27 years in the Army and can legally carry a firearm in the city.

I think one of the major differences between Mayor Adams and looks-like-he's-gonna-be-Mayor Mamdani is that the latter is really going to do these kinds of things:

That said, when the SECOND reason to defund the police is citing them as "anti-queer" you need to get the fuck out of here. "Racist?" Um, right or wrong I understand it as a talking point. "A threat to public safety?" That's an amazing leap, but you do you. "Anti-queer" as a reason, even if responding to a very specific complaint is asinine. Those are your best arguments? Those are arguments at all?

Let it burn, they deserve whatever they get in return.
