The Trump Presidency 2.0

What a weird conversation we are having- do per capita next to compare the groups on a metric that’s level.

Per capita, LGBTQ individuals identify as democrats and vote as such… that’s pretty solid.
Well, I enjoy facts over feelings. But all you have to do is turn on the TV to see who owns the cause.

Good. Judge shopping is a bad thing both parties have relied on instead of just legislating.

As @Jaknight said, it'll come back around to "being bad" for conservatives (talking heads/politicans) eventually, but thats just politics in general.

ANOTHA ONE. The SC woke up and chose violence today and I’m here for it.

Not suprised, but a bit broader of a decision than I'd expected. I wonder how long it'll be until we see follow-on cases for less divisive topics than queer stuff.

I assume that will be when the democrats stop making 80/20 issues the bulk of their legal challenges and find a principled challenge that isn't based on "Orange Man Bad". Read- not any time soon.

With their current model of revisionist history and blame shifting, anything could happen.

ACB apparently burned Justice Ketanji Jackson to the ground... seems like maybe Justice Jackson isn't the most popular with her colleagues.

SCOTUS conservatives issue scathing rebuke of Justice Jackson in injunctions ruling

For anyone like me who clicked on the link and noticed "JUSTICE JACKSON" over and over, that's verbatim from the ruling and found throughout and used by other justices. Normally I'd take all caps to have a secondary meaning, but in this instance that appears to be a "thing" in the SC's document. ACB is following a format, not yelling at another judge.

I had to open the docs as well, I had no clue why it was written like that.

To be fair, I can totally picture ACB getting a few in her (I'm guessing white wine or whisky with little options in between, maybe a marg or two on a beach) and breaking out some mean girl shit on another woman.

In this case though, some weird court or legal format is to blame and we'll have to settle for JUSTICE JUMANJI some other day.

News reports are indicating that Syria might join the Abraham Accords. If that happens, and if Saudi Arabia follows... wow.

@AWP absolutely cooked when he highlighted the AA Part Deux... if this happens, it's the single biggest diplomatic win of all of our lifetimes, and there isn't a number 2.

"Peace in the middle east" is equal parts a joke, a cynical take, and a meme.

If the President does it, though...

I never thought I'd live to see the Berlin Wall come down...
or the end of the Cold War...
or a North Korean leader meeting with a US President...
or American bombers dropping big ass bombs on Iranian nuclear facilities...
or humans who identify as non-binary...

Anything is possible.

This goes back to something we've talked about a lot on the board over the years: giving war a chance. Trying to play nice and use "soft power" in dealing with the Palestinians, or the Iranians, or Syria or Iraq or Russia or anyone else going back to the founding of our country does. not. work. To quote one of the least-likeable characters from one of my favorite TV series (except Season 8--fuck you, Season 8): "POWER is power."

Sometimes you've got to let them fight it out. If the war wasn't unnaturally prolonged between the Palestinians and the Israelis though things like UNRWA, they could have sorted all of this out a loooonnnnggg time ago. If it wasn't for making bold, sweeping, bull-in-the-china-shop moves like moving the US emabassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem where it belongs, we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now, with peace about to break out between Israel and the parts of the Arab world that matter.
