The Trump Presidency 2.0

Weren't a bunch of people mocking Trump voters over egg prices just a couple of months ago? G
Can't predict the future, and I'm cautiously optimistic, but let's not lose sight of the fact that this administration has only been in office for a little more than 6 months.

Gas, eggs, inflation, tariffs, economy, immigration, border....

It's almost like we aren't talking about these things as much because the problems are fixed.

Turns out we didn't need bipartisan bills and legislation, we just needed a new president.

Elon being miffed with Republicans and starting another party is only going to lead to Democratic party victories. The fact that his big brain can't sort that out shows he's not intelligent or his ego is so bruised he'd rather fuck the country (but he's blind). The Democrats never split off, they vote in lock step. The big tent is the Republicans, that means it's harder to govern unless you have a big majority. He could have easily helped fund more battleground races or work on primarying people he didn't like. The latter just would make him a Soros though.

Ooooh. Disagree here.

What if the ‘wide tent’ republicans (disaffected liberals, conservatives sick of the neocon BS and establishment republicans) are truly sick of the uniparty? I know I am. Republicans suck.

THEN, what if democrats that consider themselves centrist (people that actually like America but don’t like the constant Marxism and LGBTQ religion and suicidal empathy) decide they’re sick of the uniparty and the theater kid left? Democrats blow.

They have funding. They have a home for everyone that hates both parties, and they’ll steal sane (albeit few) libertarians. Libertarians are chaotic dorks without a leader or a coherent thought in their head.

You get a couple names to jump ship- and we have an exit for a huge cohort of folks. What if MAHA goes American Party? What if Dave Smith and Candace Owens and Joe Rogan go?

What if Trump leaves office, says he tried to drain the swamp for twelve years but the deep state is too entrenched and the only answer is to endorse a fresh start? You don’t think rank and file Americans/independents nationwide resonate with that? You don’t think a huge section of MAGA goes?

And what’s their party platform you ask? Simple- ‘we aren’t the uniparty, we aren’t owned by AIPAC, big pharma, or the deep state- we are a crowd sourced party of Americans sick of the status quo.’

CBTM.

I think this is the play. Who knows if the beef between trump and elon is real or if it was a push for the quoted.

Cute idea, shit application. I've seen this before, ever here of Ross Perot?

How many Democrats are actually centrist? None of them. Crow? That dude is a bought and paid for liberal shill.

@TLDR20 is a self proclaimed centrist. Ross Perot doesn’t have elons money.

And this whole thing started on an X poll about 30 seconds ago, and the paperwork isn’t even complete yet. When people start abandoning their party to actually switch, I’ll start worrying about who’s in and who’s out. But that’s just a personal thing I do, which is “Try and wait for a second before I make ironclad decisions about a topic.”

Self proclaimed centrists don't vote Democrat.

ETA: Sounds like a lover's quarrel. Elon should help get more Nuclear power plants built if he actually wants to keep pushing EV nonsense.

Our "first past the post" political system really isn't constructed in a way that can allow for a viable third party. What normally happens is if an issue or set of issues becomes so big that people form, or consider forming, a third party, that issue/those issues get absorbed by one of the extant parties.

Or, I think it's rare but has happened, one new party wipes out an existing older party and most of the old party's new adherents go to the new one. IMO that's more of a re-brand than a whole new party.

I believe I've said it before on this forum, but if not, I think the only way to breakup the political duopoly is to create two additional viable parties on opposite sides of the political spectrum at the same time.

Sadly, the greatest opportunity for this was probably 2016. If Bernie had truly gone with the "screw the billionaires" mantra and said he was going to run as a socialist because of crooked Hillary and Trump ended up facing off against Ted, Rubio, or that third guy from Ohio who's name I forgot because the Republican Party "needed to be saved," then that maaaaaaaaay have worked in such a way that both the Republicans and Democrats lost enough support to create 4 viable parties. Unfortunately, I think that ship has sailed.

I don't think Elons third party is going anywhere because he fundamentally does not seem to understand the current political climate.

On the one hand, he wants an increase in H-1B Visas, which enrages MAGA/the Neo-right. On the other hand, he wants to cut government spending, which usually enrages the left.

As a result, I don't see his party going anywhere.
