Your 2024 Presidential Election Thread

Quite a few people slamming the Bondi pick now because she apparently hasn't been on the "correct side" of 2A issues, in their view. What do you know about that

She’s a Trump loyalist. She defended him during his first impeachment trial. She’s stuck with him when many other Republicans turned against him. This nomination is his reward to her for that unbending loyalty.

She opposed the ban on semiautomatic weapons after Sandy Hook. She supported Florida’s Stand Your Ground law. She did oppose an open-carry proposal in Florida. And she wanted a 21-year age requirement for purchasing guns after the Parkland shootings.

Overall, she supports 2A and as a politician and a Trump loyalist she’ll toe whatever line he draws on gun policy. As a gun owner, I’m not worried about her.

If her confirmation is derailed, it won’t be about 2A. The Left despises her. They’ll go after her on her “election denial,” her campaign contributions, and whatever else they can conjure up.

On another note...for any former Army MPs, CID or even CI agents. Get you retired LEOSA DOD LEO credentials...reserves/NG, or AD. Other services offer it too.

I got mine, really an easy process.
Only did 8 of the 10 year requirement. :(

I'm not either. But I'd like to hear where she stands on gun control during confirmation proceedings. I don't like the red flag law, but she supported it when tensions were high from multiple school shootings.

I’m not defending her ethically, because she can be a slimy politician when she has to be….she can flip-flop with the best of them. And I suspect her support of that was pure political CYA in the emotionally charged aftermath of horrific events.

She needs to be nailed down on her current position…but like I said, any stand she takes once in office will mirror Trump’s to the letter. Whatever he supports or opposes, she will too.

I don't know where to put this, so @Ooh-Rah move as you will. But it also kinda fits here how we've talked about the media and misinformation and how when the left wing government is in power they control the media to spread this misinformation

I know that my wife and I will spend at least $700 on this thanksgiving that we're hosting for just 7 people.

The costs of this year’s holiday feast — estimated at $58.08 for a 10-person gathering, or $5.81 a head — dropped 5% since last year, the lowest level since 2021, according to a nationwide survey of grocery prices by the American Farm Bureau Federation, which represents millions of U.S. farmers. But the picture improves further when adjusted for inflation.

Instead of writing something critical of the American Farm Bureau Federation, they push a huge line of BS.

Even back in the day, when all of us were poor as dirt, no way Thanksgiving cost us less than $150 in the 90s.

I suppose I could separate "appies" from just the dinner. But even then, Dinner piece is at least $200-$300 not $58.

This has been debunked, like, a million times on social media and even on some MSM. I showed it to my wife, she spit out her coffee.

I'd put money on them doing this cost analysis based on the reccomended serving size of each item, I.E. 4oz of turkey or a single roll.
I did the math; it's based on cost per serving, which is a bad design, since no one eats like that for Thanksgiving. It let's them be "technically true", which is stupid when we know how people act around this holiday.
The items looked at from the full article:

Since 1986, these volunteers have collected price data on turkey, cubed stuffing, sweet potatoes, dinner rolls, frozen peas, fresh cranberries, celery, carrots, pumpkin pie mix and crusts, whipping cream and whole milk...Prices for ham, Russet potatoes and frozen green beans were added to the survey in 2018 to reflect more Thanksgiving favorites, with all of them showing a year-over-year reduction in price. When including the additional items, the meal cost rose to $77.34, or $7.73 per person, with more leftovers, of course. The updated Thanksgiving dinner nearly doubled the cost savings of the classic basket – an 8.7% decrease in price from 2023.

For a grand total of $58.11 ($4.93 per head) I can get everything on this list from my local King Soopers.

Granted, I'm not buying anything to make gravy, I don't have all the ingredients to make the pumpkin pie, and I'm lacking butter for the rolls. Also, you're only getting 4oz of everything and one slice of pie. Happy Turkey Day!

Wife is doing cranberry meatballs this year for appetizers along with the normal deli meats, cheeses, dips, finger veggies, and crackers. We exceeded that amount just in appetizers alone. Doing the math by servings is while admittedly still correct, it's also dishonest when again as pointed out, mostly diabetics count these things.

I am not even going to ask my wife how much it's costing us to feed her and I and our 6 kids. I shudder at the thought, I DO know how much I am paying for booze to cope.
We're having it at my house this year. Her mother, my mother, my mother's best friend whom was a second mother to me and many of my brothers that I deployed with to OIF 1, my sister, sister's husband, three nieces (two of which are pregnant), 1 nephew, two husbands of the nieces, girlfriend of nephew, boyfriend of niece, our daughter, her boyfriend and his parents, and our granddaughter.

Fall is when I give up fun money and turn it all into for the family money.

My only sister is in Texas, but my wife's family, mom and 3 sisters, moved down from Buffalo and are local. We all have pared down the 'big' family events now that many of the kids are married and have their own families. We used to host close to 25 for Christmas Eve, and I told everyone that I just don't have the bandwidth to do the big family holiday events anymore.

The number of holidays for me is finite and I just want to spend them with my wife and kids.

I'm afraid if EVERYONE got punished, we'd have to shut the government down for several weeks to allow the custodial staff enough time to clean out all of the workspaces...
