I'm still just confused that everyone is clutching their pearls over private citizens using a social media app that forces our enemies to dig through mountains of meta data...
...while our elected officials are just selling the shit to them outright while simultaneously banging their their honey pot Chinese hookers

We're flipping out about drones but didn't really say shit about balloons - or large scale property purchases.

We are worried about the existential threat of millennials posting memes, fail videos, and DIYs on how to put on makeup...
...but every single one of our government organizations has a social media site where they post everything from pictures of the Skipper shooting with his scope on backwards to "Joe and Molly" saying extremist shit while they are still in uniform sporting their name tags

I am so...

...outraged ?

I don't know who called it here, but you nailed it.

https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/20/politics/joe-biden-preemptive-pardons/index.html

President Joe Biden on Monday issued pardons for Gen. Mark Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci and members of Congress who served on the committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

The pardons, coming in the final hours of Biden’s president, amount to an extraordinary flex of presidential power. They serve to protect several outspoken critics of President-elect Donald Trump, including former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, whom Trump has vowed retribution against.

They didn't do anything wrong...but here's a pardon.

Unsurprising, but disgusting all the same.

- Biden's mental capacity is so diminished and questionable that he can't run for re-election...but all of "his" pardons and decisions since that admission are still legal? Yeah, I know "it's complicated" where the law stands and all, but all of "his" decisions will stand up to scrutiny in upcoming years? Where are the lawsuits?

- How long before Trump and petulant bitch Elon Musk have a falling out? Vivek is done, I can't see Trump's and Elon's personalities/ egos coexisting for long unless Elon has some major dirt on the Donald.

Should I be big mad about China owning 380,000 acres or should I be mad about Bill Gates gobbling up every family farm when there's a sale and he stops growing or graising things because he has his view on climate change. Bill seems to be the greater threat to our food supply. Chinese shouldn't be allowed to purchase shit. YET, they have these in our country? And we do nothing.

Vivek has recently met with the govornor about taking JD Vance senate seat or a run for Governor of Ohio. I agree, I can see Elon clashing with Trump and that will not be good for Trump. It helped him get elected but could have reverse consequences on his presidency.

If thats the case, I wonder if Milley will accept his pardon. Army values and all. Lol.
If he's smart he'll accept it. He is at major risk due to the things he did as CJCS, especially the part about actively undermining the sitting President and having back-door comms with our major adversary.

I just saw this, not sure of the veracity. It'll be interested to see where (if anywhere) this goes.

It looks like it's still a question that's never been addressed.

Burdick v. United States seems to be where it originated from.
Although the Supreme Court's opinion stated that a pardon carries "an imputation of guilt and acceptance of a confession of it," this was part of the Court's dictum for the case. Whether the acceptance of a pardon constitutes an admission of guilt by the recipient is disputed.

The DOJ has an Opinion from 2006 (mid-article) arguing that a pardon removes the criminal consequences for commiting an act, but does not change the fact that someone was charged and convicted.

I.E. you get your legal rights back, but they don't have to expunge the records saying you served jail time.
