Sure, Trump is more competent than Biden. People in his administration were held accountable. We ran through secretaries when they failed or felt they couldn't serve. Has any of Biden's secretaries resigned, certainly none of them have been fired.
But call RDS a RINO I guess, that's fine, but what we've seen from him is someone who successfully led a state during COVID and had psychos within his state government apparatus try to take him down because they were ideologically a liberal. That person is now a convicted criminal. But he speaks well and governs well, he does pick fights with big business (hello Mouse Company) but he doesn't seem like a complete baffoon. Vivek was alright, but his complete cow tow and genuflecting straight into Trump is annoying. That was one state's process.
Now this, The GOP has been pretty trash at succession planning for awhile and also someone who could galvanize the base. Remember, Trump won because he was able to snag people who were left out in the cold by the Democratic party. He didn't do himself any favors throughout his presidency to solidify himself and he had a machine actively go after him while he was in the chair. The system hates outsiders. You know, people who haven't paid their dues by being a part of government. It's unfortunate as it means the pool of folks available for that office is shallow and good ones self select out of it because nope. The fact that we ran McCain a second time while he was basically dying of cancer is pretty bad...

The GOP is really messed up. We're in a situation with a unpopular geriatric in the White House. All they need to do is put forth a competent, reasonable candidate and victory would be virtually guaranteed, probably in a landslide.
Instead, the GOP is bound and determined to make the race close, to the point there's a fair chance they may even lose. Trump isn't a particularly great conservative or Republican. Why do conservatives feel compelled to back him? I don't really get it. Very disappointing.
