This election is going to be the inverse of last one. Biden won not because he was a particularly strong candidate, but because so many people were opposed to Trump.
Trump will win this one (presuming Biden doesn't die/step down) not because he's the best candidate for the GOP, but because so many people can't vote for a dude who's sundowning on live TV.

I think he was probably the last effective President; Carter seems like an all around decent human, but his term wasn't anywhere near good.

Look at their personal lives or things they did in and out of office and we're more or less left with JFK's morale equivalent. That's where my comment about TR came from even if I expressed it poorly (which is not unusual for me at times).

POTUS had always had immunity on official acts, but at least now it's in writing and not just a DOJ opinion letter buried from years ago.

Actually a good move to push it back to the lower courts to prove up and identify any no-official acts they want to try and pursue.

I think it's pretty clear to everyone that President Biden shouldn't be the Democrat's nominee, and that if remains that way, he has virtually no chance of winning against Trump. So, a couple of options for Democrats, assuming President Biden drops out and President Trump stays in the race:

1) Pick a different nominee, someone who can supercharge the Democrat party. Someone like Michelle Obama.
2) Have President Biden step down, for "health reasons" or to "spend more time with family," whatever, and let VP Harris serve out the rest of his term. She'll get slaughtered in the general election, but the Democrats get to have the first female president, and it protects whomever the Democrats want to run in the next cycle.
3) Run whomever they want to be successful in the next cycle, knowing they won't win, to give them public face time and fundraising $$$, and allow them to spend the next four years leading the Orange Man Bad effort.
