Not Work Safe .

Maybe my memory is hazy, as I'm talking 20ish years ago.

When I went there for my visit, I remember going for a run, and the minute you left the campus proper by and few blocks, it was a stark change in the socio-economic situation. Not saying that amounts to crime, as I felt safe (I also ran in some very sketch places on this big earth), but I was advised by the university staff against doing that run.

Is this any different than the John Hopkins campus being where it is in Baltimore? I mean, I've been there too, and that's a rough neighborhood as well a few blocks in any direction. Could I interest you in the failings of the war on drugs?

Yale....John Hopkins...Duke...Univ of Chicago... all either skirting or within high crime/high violence areas. I am sure they are not the only ones.

Many if not most of the big Ivies are in sketchy neighborhoods. One big exception is Princeton.

Princeton is a beautiful town with a beautiful campus. Chapel Hill is structured similarly, with a town on one side of the street and the University on the other.

Small bit of trivia. James B Duke who founded Duke University liked Princeton so much he offered them and ungodly amount of money to change the name to Duke University. Clearly they did not. So he hired the architect and modeled part of the campus here similar to Princeton.

Temple University and UPENN (@policemedic ) have large complexes, surrounded by total and utter fuckery, hood, crime and such.

In fact, many of complex dorms are in renovated row homes, complete with armed robberies, assaults of students and shootings on the blocks.

Policemedic and I did our externship at Temple, also a closed hospital, MCP that was fun getting to, PM can elaborate on UPENN.

Princeton is certainly the exception.

Maria's mom (miss you mama) had her kidney transplant back in 06. The family had to stay in Baltimore for a month plus, since they are from this AO.

They rented a renovated row home about a block from John Hopkins, row being in the hood. They needed armed security to walk them the block home.

Someone's stepbrother is stuck in FL.
