Covid-19

I have a cold, which seems to be a Christmas thing around my house, but I digress. After 50 rotations around the Hot Space Mass I kind of know my body and how it reacts, right? Viral cold or not, I can almost guarantee a sinus infection before it is over. I grab a telemed appointment yesterday for Augmentin and Prednisone because I know how this story ends, I want the abx on hand for when this goes sideways in a few days.

Fuck me for thinking.

If you haven't used a telemed service, you are connected with an ARNP, PA, something like that via the internet. Great for colds, flu, pink eye, simple things when your primary doc is unavailable. I list my symptoms and am connected with an ARNP or something who, after reading my symptoms, launches into the COVID spiel. "Have I been tested"? No. "You should have a test done." That doesn't solve today's problem. I need a test for treatment? "No, no, it's just a good idea to know if you have COVID or not. There's a new strain going around that presents with the same symptoms you have" and you get the idea.

Oh, fuck off.

I grunt and we move on with everything. Wrapping up a few minutes later, prescriptions sent to the pharmacy on file, drink water, rest, etc. we go back to COVID. I should be tested, avoid family members until I know I'm negative, blah, blah, go fuck yourself.

The COVID thing isn't bad enough. How we were treated isn't bad enough. The whole god damn thing isn't bad enough. A sniffle, a runny nose, a cough, low grade fever, acne, lazy eye, sunburn, body aches and pains, club foot, deviated septum, anal discharge...these are all symptoms of COVID apparently. The flu? a Cold? Bronchitis? We default to COVID. Trained and educated medical professionals, smart people, dumb people, Cowboys fans, we're conditioned to think everything and anything could be COVID.

How do you treat COVID? The same way you treat a cold or the flu. Even if I'm diagnosed with COVID, are they handing out antiviral meds? Maybe, but those require certain conditions to be met, right? Unless you are one of those people, your treatment is "drink water, get some rest, etc." Shortness of breath, trouble breathing? Get to your ass to the ER...which is what we did pre-COVID!

I'm venting, ranting, whining, whatever-ing, I get it, but we need to stop with this COVID nonsense.

Feel better.

Let's not forget the tests are bullshit.

Dr. Vinay Prasad makes a good argument to stop testing. I think it's the main thing keeping this bullshit around.

I'm sick also. Minor shit, it's the fucking season.

My wife and FIL were sick a few weeks ago, probably minor flu since they both had flu shots, which, IMHO are useless also.

Doc asks them if they tested, I heard it in speaker phone, my response? Does it change treatment? No, it doesn't. Stop fucking pushing the covid nonsense.

My partner was sick at work, we worked a few nights ago. He's the same mind as us, testing is gay.

Fuck their tests, fuck their reporting to dept of health, fuck their useless jabs.

I’ve had the dreaded lurgie, (Aussie slang for a sickness, encompassing real or imagined maladies, like those ones that give you a day off when surf/golf/range is a better option instead of work), but it was nothing, nothing compared to Sydney flu over 20 years ago. Went through the planet like a buzz saw.
When the world stops working & you land a job with everyone else out of work, you take it, the cost was a jab in the arm.

Local hospitals going back to visitor restrictions and masking. Flu, COVID, RSV are running like wildfire right now. I don't think I've ever seen it quite this bad among the three.

Mine isn’t, but it probably should. Between COVID and diagnosed influenza, half our dept has been out sick over the last month. I have 2 acquaintances whose kids have been hospitalized with RSV.

I think I have flu, but could just as easily be COVID. I spoke to a friend of mine today who is an urgent care doc for Duke Urgent Care to see if I needed to go in. He said their recent census has been around 150 a day, in about 75% of that has been flu, COVID, and/or RSV. My boss said that 50% of our department has complained of respiratory crud over the past 2 weeks.

Where are you now??

I have the crud, just cough/stuffy nose. I refuse to test. It's the fucking time of year. Everyone is freaking out.

Funny regarding RSV. You never hear of adults getting it but now, they are and pharmaceutical pushing jab for adults.

Half of our station is sick, I'll probably bag out tomorrow night. It is what it is. 4 years ago, folks were sick, they called out, stayed home, took Tylenol, hydrated, barely called 911/ED admission.

Now, needy fucks, instant gratification and fear mongering from government media propaganda machine makes folks show up in droves to ED looking for quick fix. Blow me.

Adults get RSV, all the time. It just manifests like any other cold. Where it becomes a big deal is when you take that home to your kids or to your parents and then it can become a very big deal.

This is COVID and/or flu, I've had temps up to 102, chills, body aches, horrible cough, killer sore throat, the whole enchilada.

I know how you feel about COVID, my brother, especially testing. And for 95% of the population I largely agree. But for the rest it is a very very big deal, and it can still kill people.

Na, I get it. My problem with this all, especially covid is:

A novel virus, yes, a problem.

Then, suggested masking turned into compulsory masking or you're not allowed in/kicked out. Then, your ostracized for questioning or simply not playing along.

Suggested jabs turned into compulsory mandate or you loose your job, business and livelihood. Not to mention the illnesses that are attributed to it. Then, the backtracking of mandates when courts rule it was unconstitutional.

Or how the government lied, continues to lie while pushing fear propaganda to weak citizens that suck the cock of government, previously, now, buying it, hook, line and sinker.

Or the virtue signaling or straight out hatred from pro mask/jab, calling anyone murderers and plague rats.

Or how marching for Floyd was righteous but marching on state governments to re-open, that's illegal while the very state gov that called for closures did not follow their own mandates.

That's my problem with covid bro. It's a fucking joke, it's a cold for 98 percent of folks, you're absolutely right that it can be dangerous for chronicly ill/immunocompromised folks.

Worst pandemic ever. Instead of the movie, I Am Legend, we had virtue signaling nurses dancing "we are so stressed out" yelling that "we're essential" while the very hospitals they busted their asses in, fire them for refusing a vaccine when they are pregnant.

A fucking joke.

The issues are many and multiple. But a lot of the issues are parallel. For most people the disease itself is not a big deal. But for a lot of people, its an extremely big deal. But even that it's a big deal it doesn't get the government the right to do what it's done.
