Game of Thrones thread -

I think the HBO version is better than the books. It cuts out extraneous characters and confusing subplots. We don't need a Sansa-imposter married to Ramsay when it makes more sense and adds more drama when the real Sansa is put in that predicament. Sending Jaime and Bronn to Dorne to rescue the daughter was the best way to compress that segment and avoid introducing more new characters

Any book series is going to be severely abridged when transposed to film. The quality of the abridgment depends on the skill of the director, editor and writers. The Harry Potter films are a very good example of great film adaptations, keeping faithful to the books, trimming the fat and in some cases enhancing the experience. HBO has done that with GOT.

I agree. The wife and I slate listening to HP on audible right now. It is so close to the movies.

I've started the books, but it takes about 5 years to get thru just the beginning scene when you're looking at pop-ups......

Nothing like a bad-ass sword fight to the theme music of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...

Dirty bastards won't let it play embedded! Damn it...

You've got to click "watch on You Tube" from with the video.

I was going to type in all caps. I can't.

My favorite episodes usually fall about ep 10 in the series.

I can't even right now (to quote white people everywhere).

This is the best episode in GoT history.

Dude, the foresight it took to plan that from book 1 (if the show runners are to be believed that they got the nudge from Martin) at least in the abstract... holy shit man.

Albuquerque is dusty as shit.

What Hodor really means

Have a read of the blog article in that link. Martin had it planned for years.

It blew my mind.

Also, there's not a hope in hell that Bran and Meera are surviving for long without some form of help.

.... Is it time for the return of Benjen Stark or the introduction of Coldhands?
