Game of Thrones thread -

@Ooh-Rah for you, bro, FF summed it up pretty good. To get you up to speed on some subplots, Cersei and Jaime make an alliance with the Queen Mother (Margery's mom) and their uncle to unite to kill the High Sparrow and the Faith Militant. They want the Queen Mother to bring her army into town for a show of force. Little Finger, nurturing the spastic kid-king from the Eyrie, convinces him it's time for them to get their army together and go help Sansa. So, he may show up to reinforce Sansa and Jon and the Wildlings in their future attack on Ramsay at Winterfell.

Ramsay, BTW, stabbed the Wildling Woman (from Harry Potter) in the neck with what looked like an ice pick, so her return to the series is kaput. And he wrote a fairly nasty letter to Jon Snow telling him he had Rickon captive and was gonna scoop out Jons eyeballs with a spoon and let his horses rape Sansa etc etc etc. Theon showed up at his sister's pad in the Iron Islands and she pretty much chewed his ass out for being such a whipped dog and got his pledge to support her in her quest to be queen.

Arya and Bran were not in the show.

And you missed a "hot" Daenerys sportin those hooters.

I'm pretty pissed that Littlefinger is going North with an army from the Vale.

The Starks finally getting a chance to shed blood in the North is all that it should be about... Not just them being used as another vehicle for Littlefinger and his poxy version of the game of thrones.

I sincerely hope Jon Snow takes one look at him and takes his head clean off his shoulders.

What I really hate about going away from the book stuff is that the Wildlings that are settling in the gift would vastly outnumber the Bolton Army they would face. Too bad Wildling Osha didn't grab the knife fast enough.

Anyone know if the writers are going solo, or if Martin is working at least in a consulting role?

A few months ago Martin and the showrunners claimed he stepped away from the series to focus on the books. I'm skeptical, but what else is new? 8-)

I also read the show likely won't go beyond season 7 or 8, so part of the reason for the show's doing it's own thing is to setup a spin-off/follow-on series.

I don't know if he's involved but based on the writing so far, I'd guess no. I'll keep watching but I'm not particularly impressed with what they've done this season.

"ZOMG! They are deviating from the books!!!!!!"
Bitch, they've always deviated from the books.

"ZOMG!!!!! The changes are so radical this season!!!!!!!!!"
WTF were you during the Red Wedding?

"The Dorne story is so different from the books!!!!!"
STFU. In the grand scheme of things Dorne is a bit player. If it wasn't for Elia Martell and the Myrcella angles, we wouldn't even know about Dorne.

"Where's Lady Stoneheart?!?!?!?!?!!!"
Jesus tap dancing Christ. Seriously?

"GRRM said Daenerys isn't invincible to fire!!!!!!"
GRRM also said he'd have Book 6 out last year if not earlier.

"The show is so different!!!!! They left out plots and details!!!!!!!"
WTF were these people when military stories, biographies, and "real word shit" were butchered for movies and TV shows? If each book is 800-ish pages that translates into...30 hours of TV? 40? They have 10 per season. Changes have to occur. STFU.

"But they..."
Again, STFU. Bran's shaving by now because this has taken 6 years. In the books Dany was something like 12 or 13, Jon Snow was 14/15 or something....ALL OF THE KIDS ARE YOUNG!!!!!!! I love me some very naked Emilia Clarke, but if this were true to the book HBO's guilty of child porn.

May the old gods and the new damn you book purists. Enjoy the show or STFU. No one's making you tune in every Sunday night which, BTW, profits HBO, the showrunners you hate so much, and GRRM himself.
