Game of Thrones thread -

One thing GRRM is great at is foreshadowing, dropping those little breadcrumbs (R+L=J for example). At no point in the books did he foreshadown Bran "taking the purple" as Gibbon would describe in the History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.

Jon, last of the Targaryens, sent north to the Watch/ Free Folk? Um, WTF? Varys doesn't get a single raven out with the news? The silence of those who know the secret including Bran himself? That's just trash writing, that has nothing to do with a lack of source material, that's just a couple of guys going off to do their own thing.

I wish GRRM would put out a simple one line comment in print or on TV: That's not how the books end. Just drop the mic on the series.

I can overlook a lot of the bad decisions made this season, but Bran out of left field? Dragon, please...

I think the point of not picking Jon, was to essentially "break the wheel" and not have kings be picked from their bloodline anymore. Instead all the leaders will join together from now on to pick the king. So Varys getting any word out didn't matter much?

As for the rest...well I don't know man, I can't logically explain 90% of the finale/last season.

A random thought popped in my head today at work while on break, maybe the writers decided to imitate life and write things in for no explicable reason, making us think it was important when it wasn't. Then I was like, D&D (the showrunners for the GoT Series) are just halfwits who had no more source material to go off of and were as intellectual as a cement block who wrote themselves into corners then winged it to find their ways out of said corners.

^ nice but whoever put it together needs to work on the timing for the captions. We ain't all speed readers. ;)
