So what game next?

Read Dead is the first video game I’ve played since I was a kid and I have to admit I really enjoyed it.

It’s a tossup between call of duty black ops, or Grand Theft Auto 5.

I’m leaning towards COD, but I’m not interested in playing around with headsets and multiple people. I just want to play by myself when I want to play.

Can COD be played as a single player or do you have to play in teams?

I played the original Grandtheft auto on my iPhone 100 years ago and I really enjoyed it, thinking it might be a lot of fun to play the newest version on the Xbox.

If you're open to an alternate suggestion, have you heard of the Witcher 3? It's a dark fantasy game that heavily draws from Polish and Scandinavian mythology, the game itself is beautiful, dark, and massive. Recalled somewhere that you might've played tabletop D&D years ago, so I figured you might get a kick outta something similar.

On the other hand, GTA 5 or COD: Black Ops might have an easier learning curve and game mechanics. If a games single player experience were comparable to candy though, 'COD' is akin to a soft caramel, 'GTA 5' to bubbegum, and the 'Witcher 3' would be a jumbo jawbreaker. Just food for thought.

If you're looking for story and single player comparable to RDR2, you cannot go wrong with the Mass Effect Trilogy. Another good option is the Splinter Cell series. The Master Chief Collection for the HALO series is not a bad option either. Something like 4 or 5 games in onw with plenty of story and single player.

The previous CODs up to 4 or 5 has single player IIRC. I do not believe the most recent iterations have that. If you want story and single among the choices you mentioned, go GTA. You can also play the previous ones. Check the list for Xbox backwards compatibility.

If you want a comparable experience to your actions having an effect on the game world, I would do as @ke4gde suggested and pick up the Mass Effect trilogy. Choices you make in or teammates who live(or die) will carry from the first game to the third.

If you want a shooter, I'd pick up Metal Gear Solid 5. The story can be batshit insane, but it never gets old running around Afghanistan in the 80s taking out Russians.

Unfortunately, the newest Black Ops COD does not have a single player campaign. But I am betting you would like the solo Black Out multiplayer, you against about 99 other players in a map that keeps shrinking.

Yeah, hard agree. @Ooh-Rah, I don't play online, I just like to sneak around and kill Nazis, go at my own pace. In BF-V you can blow stuff up, snipe, stab, steal vehicles and planes...It's relaxing.

My copy has developed a glitch. When I kill the Nazis, they keep wiggling their feet post-mortem.

@Ooh-Rah if you're looking for something story driven, @R.Caerbannog is right: Witcher 3. You can also pick up Skyrim, oldie but a goody, and the ton of free mods available for the game. If you want mindless, somewhat repetitive violence, the Just Cause series. Tom
Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands is pretty awesome. Dying Light is an amazing zombie killer and the developer still drops free content.

Which of the above are available for a console? I have no idea, I'm not a disgusting peasant.

For anyone who plays Diablo 3 or hasn't in some time, patch 2.6.4 just dropped with a new season starting..today I think? Anyway, the new patch buffs many of the set pieces, adds 5 stash tabs to the armory, and some other changes. The UE Multishot Demon Hunter went from powerful to ridiculous and some of the other builds are straight beasts.

If that isn't your thing, you should check out Grim Dawn. It is a ton of fun though it can be repetitive. A new DLC drops this quarter, so that will be fun to check out.

Just to add to the other suggestions, the new Wolfenstein series and most of the Far Cry series are also good Singleplayer / narrative driven games with good amount of action. If you like some decent space horror, the Dead Space series is among, if not the best in that regard.

So I've always played the other 4 (5 now with the Necro release) classes every season and have enjoyed them greatly. This is the first season where I've tried a DH and is the early leveling (think 1-50) supposed to feel like I'm pulling teeth and getting bamboo shoots put underneath my nails? Normally I'll run on expert until I can bump up to torment tiers, and do fine with the other classes but DH is the first where I've had to drop it to normal and it still feels like I'm tickling people.

I'm running a barb early and figured I could transition to a multishot DH later (Craft a lvl 70 bow, quiver, and a Leoric's crown. Drop lvl 25 gems of Ease on the items and a 50-ish lvl GoE in the weapon's socket). Yeah, DH is kind of weak to level up, I think the barb has been the easiest but I also did something different this year. Last year I ran a DH and it was slow to lvl 70, but...my methods changed.

Old Way: Run bounties until I hit lvl 70.
New way:

• Complete the challenge rift.
• Roll bloodshards for class-specific legendaries.

• Play most of the game on Hard, stepping down as needed. Speed is better than XP, especially after lvl 61.
• Straight away, find a bounty level that has a boss like Zoltan Kulle or one of the others in Act I or Act II. Dropping them guarantees a legendary.
• Rifts after about lvl 11. Always rifts. Rift until you hit 70.

I play on PC, so if you do and want a power level, I'll PM you my Blizzard ID. My net can suck some times, but I can drag you through some T6's as long as it works. My barb is not optimized and I'm crushing T13's in about 5-6 minutes.

Sooo at the risk of sounding like a fool... Spryo the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy is out and is flipping amazing! Basically, the first 3 Spyro the Dragon video games for PS1 have been remastered and compiled onto one disc. It's a console peaseant game, but if you have a PS4 or Xbox One and have kids it's a steal! The music and art design of the game are simply breathtaking, if you get a chance to pick up a copy it's good nostalgic mindless fun. Great for kids and adults! WOOOO!!!

Apologies guys, I should have provided some context for those not aware of it. I was afraid of the whole explaining a joke would kill it thing. Not to worry, here are some recent examples.

The Division 2: Ubisoft Deserting Steam For Epic Games Store PC Release - Pissed off a lot of people that are Steam loyal. I don't care for the Division series anyway, but I can understand if the first one was on it. I've had my Steam account for 15 years now and like having my games all in one spot and their series in the same service.

Metro Exodus Developer Threatens Skipping PC in the Future if Steam Fans Boycott - Now, the developers have since come out and stated that the one dev that made this statement does not rep what the company is going to do. However, it created quite the stir for a dev to try and talk to fans this way. Kinda like what the EA rep said to their fans when they complained about red-headed Irish women with bionic arms in Genderfield V. Speaking of...

Battlefield 5 did not meet EA's sales expectations - This was an excellent example where the gaming community came together and shoved a publisher's own words down their throat. If you're not familiar, last year, when the gaming community was in full fire breathing internet mode about including women in BFV in the way that they did. An executive (who was essentially fired), stated publicly that ”These are people (gamers) who are uneducated — they don’t understand that this is a plausible scenario, and listen: this is a game,” and “We stand up for the cause, because I think those people who don’t understand it, well, you have two choices: either accept it or don’t buy the game,” “I’m fine with either or.” So the community responded and Genderfield is a disaster. The big problem was not that women were included, it is how they were included and how revisionist history was forced on the community at large. Many players wanted to play as the legendary Soviet sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko, Soviet medic Natalia Peshkova, or English lady Susan Travers who fought in the Foreign Legion during WW2.

Anywho, those are just a few examples of some of the hub-bub that has been going around, and the reason for the meme
