Gaming thread

I have been playing Arma 3. It's pretty fun. I did a milsim op (I know gay), but a buddy convinced me to. We had some veterans from different services and a bunch of geeks. It was pretty fun though.

The game has a system called zeus now that allows one person to basically dungeon master the whole thing in real time. It was pretty cool experience. I will probably do it again.

arma is a great game with a huge mod community. If you get a chance check out the King of the Hill, Exile, Liberation, and Wasteland modes. They are all loads of fun with friends. Fun fact, battle royale as a genre got its start on ARMA. PUBG was originally a battle royale mod on ARMA.

King of the Hill is basically capture the points and hold them.
Exile is a survival game where you're prisoners on an island and fighting for control. You need to eat and drink and fight. Not as indepth as other survival games but lots of fun with the vehicles.
Liberation is a giant coop game where you are the American freedom forces coming in to liberate an island or territory. Lots of fun with friends and the AI can be modded to be very difficult. They shoot communicate and move like you do.
Wasteland is a mode where you collect money and kills to kill people. Teams fight it our for points and use all kinds of vehicles.

I have almost 2k hours in that game and don't regret buying it at all. Worth every penny and more.

There are also RP servers called "Altis Life". You start off as a civilian with some money on your virtual account and can essentialy become whatever you like. Even apply for law enforcement that require character interview and passing selection / training courses, or run for mayor. Anything really, including shady / criminal stuff. Not super sophisticated, but can be quite a lot of fun.

Here's a pretty good beginners guide:

Fantasy Star Online 2 in Dreamcast was my first and last RPG I played. I tried the new one the other day and meh.

At the same time my group of friends I play XBOX with wanted a different game other than a FPS. So they got ESO. Which meant I got ESO too. I am not a huge fan, but I can see how people can spend countless hours on a game such as that.

Heads up to anyone playing Arma 3

I've recently started the newly added RP inspired "Old Man" campaign, and instantly fell in love with it.

Unfortunatly it appears to be quite bugged. Some 30 hours in and at a certain point the save files start to become corrupted and dissapear. Lost a ton of progress, forced to start over. Nothing new really when it comes to A3, but in this case, frustrating ah.

Similar to the main campaigns, the game gives you limited save options.

So here are my recommendations:

1 ) Do not pick the recommended save mode. Select the 2nd option. It will frustrate you.

2 ) Try to not use mods.

3 ) Make a backup of your autosaves. Maybe not literaly every single time, but at least whenever you do a "main" mission.

  • When you evetualy get to that 'recover intel from that plane wreck in the sea' mission, definitly make sure to save and backup, because it keeps crashing there, for me, and other people as well.

Apart from that, the scenario is solid

You start as retired legionnaire ( "Old Man" ) on Tanoa recovering intel for British / Nato sof on the definitly not Chinese Pacific CSAT forces, who were invited by the local government to take care of a new definitly not inspired by recent events virus outbreak. There seems to be foul play involved, meanwhile a war is going on between local guerilla and the gov / CSAT. It's completly up to you how to approach the situation and how much to get involved. Be loud, be sneaky, or both. Decisions and actions, or lack of, have consequences.

I've had a PC for a while now, but decided to pick up a PS Now subscription. Played through Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Last of Us. Two excellent games I wouldn't have had a chance to play otherwise since they're PS exclusive.

PS Now itself kinda sucks. I had a ton of issues playing TLOU: solid 20 fps, horrible input lag from the controller, service crashed a few times. It kind of killed the experience for the game since it had so many technical stutters. But for $10 getting to play two fantastic games was worth it. Might start playing through the God of War franchise since I've got nothing but time.

To be fair Bohemia is still cranking out updates for the game so good on them.

That's why I am not really mad. They know the problems, try to fix what they can, and keep giving.
I hope they manage to figure out a more stable solution for the next title though. Because it's really a great game.

Was looking for a good couch co-op arcade game on PS4 to play with the girlfriend and discovered that they've recently remastered Castle Crashers for it.

Brought back many a memory of drunken barracks weekends with about 8 people shoved into my tiny room waiting to get a turn.

Good side-scroller beat-em-up for anybody who's into those
