If you really hate getting ganged on by 4-12 people, then teabagged and called a noob, try Bannerlord. I guarantee you, that won't ever happen. You can trust me.

If the objective calls for it, ya. Defending an objective (flag, bomb site, hostage, intel, cap point) is by design, camping a point to prevent the enemy from getting it.

Camping is an issue easily remedied with lots of explosives at range or a distraction.

Check your corners scrub.... 8-)

I think good map design takes camping out of the equation. If you force players to be active in their angles or keep the risk/reward level on maps by overloading areas to gain information then there is almost never a reason for a camper because that player hurts the team massively.

Good map design or not, if you have an objective, let's say a bomb site, then regardless of how the map is you will be forced to camp or assault. each carry their own risks and/or rewards. Think of a camp as an ambush. You setup waiting for the enemy to come through, hoping he doesn't spot it too soon or react faster than you. No doubt it is frustrating to get killed by campers. The thing is to know when and when not to do it.

Now, I would agree with your argument for say a TDM mode or Kill Confirmed type game. Then the whole objective is to shoot move communicate. Otherwise, no.

Here is one that I am sure will get blood boiling. Bunny Hopping. Like in COD for instance (and other games) where you can hop around corners and get head shots with anything. Then of course there are the Sky-PGs (RPGS shot from parachutes or in free fall )

Camping is trash. Invisibility on something, I'm down. Hard scope a lane for 3-5 seconds, I'm down. Roaming near a spawn point, I'm down. Sitting still for 15+ seconds instead of taking the fight to the enemy?

That's bitch work. I suck at PvP. I recognize that sometimes you have to hang back and figure out their intent instead of charging forward, but to me "camping" is going prone/ hidden and just sitting there.

In a video game, I think it is a trash move.

I used to play with a bunch of US Mil guys in COD4 and would invariably end up on an east coast server, west coast wasn't too bad. Camping with an Intervention and rolling between 3 different spots was pretty much the only thing I could do due to latency. I could not assault unless they were reloading or slightly retarded no matter how much I enjoyed it. Put me back on an NZ based server though, it was like being John Wick before there was a John Wick.

Your scenario to me isn’t camping, I would equate camping with more a TDM style and one teammate sits wherever they spawn until they die. I don’t think I have ever once called someone a camper in a Squad type game or a BR because the objective in the gameplay is different. Holding an objective to me is not camping though, so I’ll stand by the map design comment.

I grew up on 1.6, so I love bunny hopping. I think movement is a huge aspect of gameplay but I find the COD series to continually cater to a more casual base and so I have a hard time playing them as much these days.

Shifting metas and op load outs are part of the process but such a terrible part. I always hate big updates that “break” something and create a massively OP rift that fundamentally changes things for a few weeks before getting reverted back or nerfed. But, that’s part of the fun as well I guess in keeping games from getting stale.

While I like COD's PvP (though I haven't played in years) I really like Destiny 2's model. The meta is finally in a really good place after months of tweaking and the subclasses are reasonably balanced. There are still problems, but the neutral game and gunplay are very good and it is rare to see a camper like you described above. If anything, camping becomes a death sentence once the other team figures out your MO. Campers are hunted like Palestinians after Munich even in matches with random players. It's a "thing" with the community which I think is great.

I'm mainly PvE now, but I like D2's PvP enough that it makes up about 40% of my gameplay. The game modes are very diverse and run on a weekly rotating schedule, so some game modes are always there while others take 3-4 weeks to show up.

The one cautionary note for PvP in D2 is that some of the best weapons are acquired through PvE, so expect to spend 2o-30% in PvE after the intial quest line. You could maybe dive in and go straight to PvP, but I wouldn't recommend that.

I am going to have to check out this Destiny game. I just went down a youtube rabbit hole on it, looks wildly immense in terms of playability. Thanks for all the info in this thread to go back to look through as well.

It's worth it, seriously.

If y'all are PC and want to try and a few games, let me know. I'm in the ME so I don't know what my lag will look like.

Some YT streamers to get you started. Look for (the pselling should be close enough):
Datto
CammyCakes
sidezz
SirDimetrious
iFrostBolt
Cerridius
Gladd
Esoterick
jez (Maybe he goes by Th3jez...I forget)
drewsky
KackisHD
AztecrossGaming
panduh
Mtashed

Datto and Cammy do really good weapon breakdowns though Cammy is mostly PvP and Datto is a PvE/ Raid God. Gladd and Esoterick are PvE with Esoterick doing ridiculous stuff solo. sidezz, SirD, Cerridius, iFrostBolt, drewsky, panduh, an Mtashed are PvP gods. The others do general news, analysis, hints/ tips/ guides, etc.

If you're in PvP and run into anyone with a clan tag of G1, BSK, PRML, or MATH. Press F, you've already lost.

After...wow, I don't even know how many drinks and how many hours in the game, I have Izanagai's Burden w/ catalyst, the Rat King, and am on the road to Malfeasance. The Destiny 2 LFG Discord is lit. Just have some patience and sooner or later someone will come along with what you need. This being the last week of the season players like me are cleaning up quests, so opportunities abound.

Dear Naughty Dog:
Re: Last of Us Part2
Subj: Suck my smelly ass

Cunts,

How stupid do you think I am? I should just stop there....

Suddenly Joel is a halfwit who gets snuffed by Abby in the first hour of the game, and now I'M Abby?!?!
Fuck you fuck you fuck you.

This is like Being Arthur for the first quarter of RD2, having him get shot in the back by Micha, and then making me play Micha for the rest of the game, trying to make him become a better person and understand his motivations.

Fuck Off.

Y'know I had avoided spoilers and only heard that it was getting review bombed "cause of the progressive ideas in it". But yeah....that's a pretty shit plot progression, to think I was legitimately interested in playing it at one point.

It fully makes sense that it happened, but it doesn't feel like they earned it.
Execution was bad.

The "progressive ideas" it's getting downvoted for are it basically being a women character led game, one of those character being purposely created to be unattractive so some neckbeards think that makes her trans, and it having a decentish number of LGBT characters.

Now, if the review doesn't mention "progressive ideas/agenda" or how the game is ruined because of the spoiler @Ooh-Rah mentioned, but talks about the plot? Yea, Naughty Dog fucked the pooch.

The writing team fucked up because they want you to feel sympathy for Abby and revulsion at what Ellie does, but it doesn't work when Abby is introduced to us by line driving Joel's skull in.

You play as Ellie for 3 days getting revenge on Abby's friends/family, and then play as Abby over the course of those same three days.

If you played as Abby first, built a connection to those characters and understood why they killed Joel, THEN switched to Ellie and murdered them all, the story would have been much more effective and in line with its theme of "revenge is awful".
