Gaming thread

So I'm into the whole zombie survival/base defense genre. Here's the one I've been waiting for and it's on sale for 25% off as part of the summer sale...$15!

I don't have a 4k monitor, but I have the settings set how I want. I'm limited physically to 60FPS due to having 60hz IPS displays, but things run fine otherwise. I have some things turned down primarily because I want clean edges, not smoothed (FXAA/etc) and some other stuff that is esoteric/annoying to me. Glows that shouldn't glow, etc.

I was thinking of trying it out with my Oculus Rift, but I don't have the dk2, so not sure I want to go down that road. I've heard it's a pretty amazing experience with it though.

Playing Far Cry 4 on an i3. Min specs claim that isn't possible, but I'm one of a bazillion guys doing it, so just a heads up in case anyone wondered if it would work.

Dollar for dollar, given the mods available I think Mount and Blade Warband might be the best game out there.

Has anyone tried Ark: Survival Evolved?

I've been playing a bit with some friends on a private server. Still early access and has all the normal things that go along with that, but very playable and new patches and content every couple of days.

I'm going back and forth right now between getting a PS4 or XBOX 1. I don't really play video games that much anymore, but I also think it would be nice to have the upgraded hardware. I enjoy single player games better than multiplayer as I really hate getting my ass kicked by a nine year old all the time. That's leading me towards picking up a PS. Does that sound a about right?

Just getting a good PC is what you should be doing.. I don't know how people can play at 30FPS locked.. granted a lot of games coming to the PC lately have just been shitty ports (ie the new batman) but ultimately you will always have a better experience on the PC.

This should aid you in your choice...

Lol I don't even own a LCD or plasma tv. I suppose that's justification for a nicer PC.

And you can build a nice rig for 600-1000, depending on what performance or style (such as your case) matters to you. I've built two in the last year. I have less than 1300 in one and it will top at 1400 once I add a second SSD. The other was about 550. Both play modern games at 60 fps and the higher end system will be relevant for years to come. I don't need ultra graphics, but everyone has what matters to them.

Unfortunately I forgot what gaming is since I graduated high school. Nothing like hanging out and snacking while gaming all night with some buddies. Miss the Halo 2 days, I especially miss Diablo II!

I wish I could go out and buy new console and start gaming again, that would be a horrible life decision for me. I would just get addicted. :youllpay:
