My wife could get 600/hr if she wanted too. Lawyers get more then they deserve.
@AWP you nailed exactly what I said and if I can find a way to bet on this scenario while I am in Vegas, I will out my money where my mouth is.
Problem with your scenario is Trump will burn the house down before allowing DeSantis to get the nomination.@AWP you nailed exactly what I said and if I can find a way to bet on this scenario while I am in Vegas, I will out my money where my mouth is.

this is about a cult of personality
Trump isn’t running anything in the GOP. He’s got too much baggage. Head to head DeSantis crushes Trump (Trump declared too early and is generally washed).Pro

I'd rather have President DeSantis with Trump as a back room advisor.Which is why Trump needs to go away for good. Not for DeSantis or anyone else to take the nomination, but because Trump doesn't care about being a Republican. Trump only cares about himself, he's had his day in the sun, and he needs to move on for the good of the Republican party. If he won't move on, the party needs to move on without him.
What a lot of people don't see though, is DeSantis is a polished Trump. This isn't about a platform, this is about a cult of personality dragging down the party. DeSantis is everything Trump will never be and that includes electable in 2024.
If you believe the GOP will improve its chances at winning future elections ('24, '28, and beyond) by disavowing Trump in this next election and, by extension, many Americans who feel increasingly ignored and unrepresented by the establishment GOP, I have some FTX stock to sell you.Time to for the GOP to distance itself from Trump....it only hurts them in the long run.

I agree it would be helpful to the GOP if it could effectively tightrope this strategy. However, I think due to the nature of Trump and what he represents to many supporters who are fed up with the establishment GOP as an idea - policy convergences be damned -, if the party does much more of the distancing you're suggesting, then your second point:You don’t have to disavow Trump, just ignore him in public. DeSantis has a number of Trump-esque policies, but he’s largely ignored Trump’s swipes at him and distanced himself from Trump.
... may become a rapidly escalating fact.Trump’s real threat is if he runs as an Independent and takes a number of votes with him, guaranteeing a Democrat win in 2024.
