Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

Anytime I can read a story where the Hollywood elite complain about eating their own, is a time that I can sit back and have a quick laugh.

Oscars voters slam Hollywood inclusion standards amid new diversity rules | Fox News

I understand and support diversity in Hollywood, but sometimes its just ridiculous. If you google James Bond you'll find a lot of articles advocating for the next Bond to be black or female. If you research a little deeper you can also find articles about African- American and female actors and fans basically saying that "James Bond is not and should not, ever be black" or female.

First black Bond villain reveals his surprising thoughts on those Idris Elba rumours

Some wouldn't care, but I think if you push this type of stuff, you lose a big part of the fan base forever. Its not for any racist reasons in most cases, its just recognizing a BS, woke narrative.

I am all for this. So long as they remake Roots with a Caucasian or Asian cast. At some point enough is enough.

I have watched remakes through the lens of "does this add something better?" The movie The Equalizer is fantastic. Definitely better than the old show. The 'new' TV series with Queen Latifa? Yeahhhhh.....that's a no for me, dog.

The second question I ask is, "does it alter the culture of the franchise or original story?" If the intent to add a name-your-demographic-here is simply to have another representative of that group, then the answer is 'yes', and to me it's definitely not worth it.

I have to ask myself is all of this just to get back at the industry that prevented Hattie McDaniel from going to the Oscars and getting her award? I mean then next thing you know people will be asking for reparations.....

Jeffrey Wright plays an excellent Felix Leiter and Judy Dench steals the show.

My Extraction 2 spoilerish-free review.

If you're going into this without suspending reality a bit you're kind of dumb. Let's be honest here. That said, the gunplay and fights are awesome with differing locales and stakes keeping it kind of fresh. The guns and accoutrements are top notch, just a lot of gun porn in there for you. I think Chili Palmer (retired CAG guy) was an advisor and extra for the movie. The "special guest" who bookends the movie HAS to return in part 3, hopefully with a larger role because that would be bitchin'. I liked the bad guys and the change of countries/ venues over the standard movie bad guy.

The main complaint I have is Nik kept her clothes on, not even a bathing suit. What happened to gratuitous nudity? Pussification of America...

Anyway, solid popcorn theater, entertaining, if you liked the first one you'll like the second.

4 out of 5 VW SUV's.

Hard agree with the special guest at the beginning and end. And I loved the line when Rake asked his name, paraphrasing: 'it doesn't matter what my name is.... what matters is I work for one gnarly motherfucker.'

Also kudos for the producer for finding local talent, a lot of those Georgians were actually Georgians and small bit actors and unknown in the US.

It's a variation of John Wick-style storytelling. You definitely have to suspend belief. But that doesn't make it any less entertaining.

The Trailer is great but doesn't even begin to tell the story. The Machine is one of the Funniest movies I've seen in a long time. You have to go into this thinking Russia is 25 years behind America. The flash back songs are from the 90's and it does a really good job of painting the difference in cultures. It also made me realize most of you funnier people on the site could easily be "the MAWSHEENA"!! It's really a tale of every man's dream; to please his dad, make his wife happy, be a great father.....all while still staying wild on the inside!

:ninja:

They made a movie about this guy’s joke??? I’m so fucking happy!

Dune 2 second trailer released....I am so looking forward to this movie in Nov....

Yeah, me too. Star Wars for grown-ups. You know with six Dune novels there’s enough material for about 8 feature length films. I hope they continue to make them.

BTW, Christopher Walken has been cast as the Emperor.

Just one highly-subjective opinion, but... the quality of the series dropped off pretty quickly.
