I read somewhere that the Chinese have been doing this for years in multiple countries. Above the altitude that passenger jets fly at, and in someway are able to technically not be breaking any treaties.

No, sovereign airspace goes to 50 miles up IIRC.

It is funny, we went from just one balloon sighting that would've been let go by the Pentagon were it not for Chase Doak (this dude is clearly a national hero ) to shooting down 4 "things" in about as many days.

Warms my heart, as a retired Guard guy. Both F-16's came back with an AIM-9 rail empty, so I wonder if the wingman got the kill.
