The self identity thread.

There were a couple comments on the reddit thread discussing how (from a design perspective) the old logo would usually be a bad design because it's outdated and overly complicated, but those factors make the design perfect for its niche.

Wasn't there an episode or something where Don Draper tried to talk a company out of changing its logo? "If it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of thing? Or am I imagining that because I've seen it somewhere on TV?

I don’t think any serious Cracker Barrel enthusiasts were going to stop eating there because there was an old white guy on the logo.

I think plenty of them will frequent it less because they changed it, giving the appearance of a “driven by woke” rebrand.

Short term loss is inevitable. Long term… not sure yet.

$100 million so far...

Looks like both the barrel and the cracker (straighten your panties, I'm a native Floridian) are back per CNN and Fox. CNN however, had to double-down and remind us they aren't the neutral media outlet they like to claim:

After right-wing backlash, Cracker Barrel says it will get rid of its new logo

Yup, all of those are right-wing people and totally none in the center or left who are tired of bullshit rebrands regardless of the reason.

When Outrage Becomes Violence • The Havok Journal

Minneapolis is spiraling under grief. Vigils, resource centers, and political statements are pouring in. Officials are promising tangible support, while faith leaders try to heal the spiritual wounds.

And yet, as the city reels, the question lingers: We talk about culture and blame—but who holds the architects accountable?

The issues with Minneapolis are deeper than most realize. The city is in a death spiral that really began to accelerate ~15 years ago. Like many issues, there's no single event or action that got us to this point, but rather a series of events/actions.

Minnesota is one of the longest standing blue states, but it was closer to the traditional "blue-dog"/JFK type democrat. However, the last ~15 years have seen an influx of radical leftists from outside Minnesota and, subsequently, large populations of immigrants -- many of whom settled in Minneapolis. This has resulted in both populations gaining an ideological foothold in key capacities that has significantly changed the political and cultural landscape of the state much more radically left. Examples include, but certainly aren't limited to: Tim Walz (Governor), Jacob Frey (Minneapolis Mayor), Ilhan Omar (US House Rep), Tina Smith (US Senator), Keith Ellison (MN AG).

As I posted in the identity thread... snip...

YMMV
I empathize to some extent, but here's the reality:

...snip...

The fact that states, such as mine, have not only limited the options for these young people to get help, but further pushes and enables the behavior, is pretty appalling.
You're both right there... your training is almost complete.

There are individuals in every movement who are good people. People very close to me in my life- whom I love- are simultaneously gay and a "trans ally". That being said, those good people in the movement must realize that the movement itself is ultimately detrimental to our country and global society. I'll avoid Godwin's Law to prove the point- there are certainly people in Antifa and Black Lives Matter and the Proud Boys that are good people, and for whatever reason, align themselves with those organizations. They aren't violent, they love the country, and want what they think is best for the world.

The trans ideology is a social contagion aimed at children. Plain and simple. The very core beliefs- "you were born in the wrong body and you should be able to identify however you want"- focus on the most vulnerable of our society, mostly mentally impressionable children and to a lesser extent adults that are constantly bombarded by the astroturfing of a hysterical minority, supported by "the culture"- Hollywood, the MSM, left-wing politicians. Call it the blob, the machine, whatever.

The core tenets of the trans ideology cannot exist in the same universe as LGB rights and existence. If gender and sexual preference are completely fluid, then you absolutely can't be "born this way", as the LGB community espouses. Suppose you believe that a male can wake up daily, decide that they are now female, and that their attraction/identity depends on the subjective feelings of an individual. In that case, you can't argue for gay rights any more than you can say for bronies, furries, white supremacists, or religious fundamentalists' rights. Those rights, such as those we fought for during the Civil War, Civil Rights, and suffrage movements, are derived from stopping a majority from oppressing of denying equal rights and personal agency to classes of people based on immutable characteristics they can't change.

Accepting and supporting the trans ideology means that you have to admit that LGB have chosen their preference, not that it's a biological truism. Suddenly, you're having a very uncomfortable conversation about Obergfell, rights, and if sexual preference is in fact a "constitutionally protected right" and how someone can be mocked, shamed, doxxed and punished for resisting a preference they disagree on religious grounds, as opposed to the contention that they were discriminated against because of their immutable characteristics.

I've heard from some in the gay/lesbian community that despise the alphabet soup grouping for essentially the same reason you cite above.

The issue of trans/non-binary/whatever is distinctly different from someone being gay/lesbian; they shouldn't be lumped together.

Agree, but the facts of the matter as they exist today are the facts of the matter.
