It'll be interesting to see the interaction between Putin and Trump, especially given that the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin on the charge of "crimes against humanity". Putin will not travel to any country that may arrest him. Will Trump meet with him in person? Seems unlikely.
 
Just out of curiosity - the ICC can issue all of the arrest warrants they want - for any world leader they please - but exactly who enforces the ICC shenanigans?

Nobody with the means will ever do it - they don't want to set a precedent.

Hell no- because they don't want to risk a warrant for Bush era "war crimes" related to enhanced interrogation - or Obama war crimes for drone strikes - or Trump war crimes committed while being Donald Trump
Is China going to arrest him?
Japan?
Germany?
France?
Israel?
Iran?

Most of the folks that are crazy enough to cuff him and stuff him don't have the muscle to hold him once they make their statement.

These international organizations are all full of shit for the most part and serve as little more than a launch pad for "legalized" money laundering.
 
If a nation doesn’t recognize the jurisdiction of the court, it doesn’t matter what they decide. My rave du jour is that the international system put in place post WW2 is not exactly broken but teetering and the mob in the head shed know it. Human Rights! War Crimes! Breaches of International Law! Don’t bother holding my beer.

 
The ICC's war crime defendants are probably 95% sub-Saharan African despots, war lords and military leaders, with some Russian generals and Islamic Jihadists thrown in. Most are at large because the ICC is just an empty hat that spews a lot of pointless blather about human rights.

Nevertheless...you can score some good synthetics at the Hague.8-)
 
I agree the ICC is feckless when it comes to any nation with power many aren't signed on, including the Russia and the U.S. So, there's virtually no chance of any country arresting him.

However, we live in a strange time where perception often times trumps (no pun intended) fact. Aside from a trip to China, Putin remains barricaded in Russia. Now, that's for other reasons besides the ICC - I hear paranoia is a bitch. Nonetheless, I don't see any real world leaders, aside from Xi, wanting to meet with Putin in person, if for no other reason than the appearance of meeting with a war criminal. But, I may be wrong.

Xi can afford to meet with Putin. Maybe Kim too. Not much reason for anybody else to want to and earn the wrath of the countries aligned against him…if only for economic reasons.

Reports state there's urgency on behalf of Russia to reclaim Kursk before Trump is sworn in and/or any negotiations begin around ending the conflict. If Ukraine is able to hold Kursk, it becomes a meaningful bargaining point for trading Ukrainian territory. Russia doesn't want to do that.

Remember when people were trying to get Bush arrested by the ICC...like you and what Army? The only way the ICC works is if the guy is already in chains in a signatory country. Like people think Netanyahu should stand trial...well for what? Why aren't you issuing arrest warrants for Hamas? Yasser Arafat had plenty of people murdered in the name of his cause, no warrant.

"There is reason to believe that Teixeira was searching for classified reporting regarding the U.S. Intelligence Community’s assessment of the identity of the individual who transmitted classified national defense information, to include the Government Document," the affidavit said.

Pentagon leaker Jack Teixeira sentenced to 15 years in prison

A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced Pentagon secrets leaker Jack Teixeira to 15 years in prison.

Teixeria, a 22-year-old Air National Guardsman from Massachusetts, pleaded guilty in March to leaking highly classified military documentsrelated to the war in Ukraine.

Prior to his sentencing on Tuesday, Teixeria spoke to the court and apologized for his actions, saying: "I wanted to say I'm sorry for all the harm that I brought and caused."

"I understand all the responsibility and consequences fall upon my shoulders alone and accept whatever that will bring," he added.
