Apologies guys, I should have provided some context for those not aware of it. I was afraid of the whole explaining a joke would kill it thing. Not to worry, here are some recent examples.

The Division 2: Ubisoft Deserting Steam For Epic Games Store PC Release - Pissed off a lot of people that are Steam loyal. I don't care for the Division series anyway, but I can understand if the first one was on it. I've had my Steam account for 15 years now and like having my games all in one spot and their series in the same service.

Metro Exodus Developer Threatens Skipping PC in the Future if Steam Fans Boycott - Now, the developers have since come out and stated that the one dev that made this statement does not rep what the company is going to do. However, it created quite the stir for a dev to try and talk to fans this way. Kinda like what the EA rep said to their fans when they complained about red-headed Irish women with bionic arms in Genderfield V. Speaking of...

Battlefield 5 did not meet EA's sales expectations - This was an excellent example where the gaming community came together and shoved a publisher's own words down their throat. If you're not familiar, last year, when the gaming community was in full fire breathing internet mode about including women in BFV in the way that they did, an executive (who was essentially fired), stated publicly that ”These are people (gamers) who are uneducated — they don’t understand that this is a plausible scenario, and listen: this is a game,” and “We stand up for the cause, because I think those people who don’t understand it, well, you have two choices: either accept it or don’t buy the game,” “I’m fine with either or.” So the community responded and Genderfield is a disaster. The big problem was not that women were included, it is how they were included and how revisionist history was forced on the community at large. Many players wanted to play as the legendary Soviet sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko, Soviet medic Natalia Peshkova, or English lady Susan Travers who fought in the Foreign Legion during WW2.

Anywho, those are just a few examples of some of the hub-bub that has been going around, and the reason for the meme

Holy heck! That is crazy. Didn't realize so much was going on in the gaming industry. After the 'gamer gate' thing, I stopped buying games at full price and became a 'patient gamer'. Now I only play the good stuff. There is too little incentive to pay full price for a piece of entertainment that is incomplete or is a hot mess.

Schadenfreuding at EA losing money on Battlefield 5. Good to see people voting with their wallets.

I have been playing too much RedDead2.

Fair enough... as soon as they release it for PC I will be in the same boat.

Built a PC back in 2017 and have played that pretty much exclusively since then. Bought RedDead2 for the XBox and that game absolutely blew me away. Its so good I considered buying the XBox live gold subscription just so I could play online. Unfortunately the online has been having some issues, but the main story is 100% worth it.

Ran into a KKK meeting in the middle of the forest one night, so I snuck up up to them and sunk a tomahawk into the guy who was being initiated. Then set everyone else on fire with some firebombs, blew a few heads off with a double barrel shotgun and sniped a guy riding away on his horse. Shit like that is why it was so fun!

I'm all about buying games that are incomplete. Early releases on Steam tend to be fun, and helping develop the game in some small part also is rewarding when it's with studios/groups that actually pay attention to bug reports.

I think it mostly just relates to the controls. It was really bad during the beta, and didn't get much better during the demo. flying isn't too bad, but it's still awkward as hell and difficult to control.. swimming in 3rd person through cave networks gets me drowned.. happened a few time on me.

Maybe it's because it's a console port to PC type game. Once I dig out my controller to play some rocket league with work friends, I might give anthem another go. I got it free with the RTX 2080 card.

I also recently tried playing the Division 2 during it's beta. It was pretty much the Division 1, but in DC. There were apparently some additional game mechanics in the game, but I was not too impressed. I'm not likely to pick it up.

Diablo 3, I'm a horrible player and made it to a GR85 without augments or optimized gear. UE multishot demon hunter makes the HOTA Barbarian look weak in comparison and it is a beast.

You should consider Path of Exile... the amount of extra content and depth is just absurd. Though that does put some people off for the same reason.

You are a better man than I am. I'm careful with how I buy games since I'm doing the console thing and need a game to play well out of the gate. With how political game studios have become I try to avoid companies and titles that sacrifice story and immersivity. One thing I love about gaming, is that it's very laissez-faire when it comes to a titles success. It's neat how great games tend to be rewarded, while half baked games and money grabs are relegated to the bargain bin.

Thanks for the info Florida173, I went ahead and took a chance on it and pre-ordered...will take it for a spin and see. Agree on Division..I was hopeful for The division initial release, but ended up hating it.

Like I said before I think. I have it because of the RTX 2080 purchase.. So I am going to give it a solid try, but I'm hearing some mixed reviews from some of the youtube personalities. I can't seem to get hyped for anything lately..

That's your problem, you're consoling.

IF you played on PC, you'd have the ability to get early releases on the cheap (like 5-10 bucks) and if it's good but has problems? bounce between some other titles and come back to it in 3-6 months. Perfect example being Astroneers. For a while, there was a huge set of vehicular bugs that would send them flying to the physics bubble limit around a player.... which meant it was lost forever, because while it froze there, if you tried to chase it, you just moved the active physics bubble to it's position and it'd keep going.

Fast forward a few months, and it's doing great. If I had the space/time, I'd probably start playing Elite again.

That's the problem and joy of PC gaming, it will never be standardized. The whole point of it is to be able to custumize and grow according to your budget and desire. I get it though.

I just recently finished my play through of Metro Exodus. It was great IMHO. The story telling was fantastic. The settings were diverse and well crafted. The gun play was pretty good. It has a weapon maintenance system that makes it important for you to take care of your rifles otherwise they will start malfunctioning, which made some areas very challenging. I believe it has a chance to be the game of the year. 100% worth the money.

Why do you dislike online gaming services? Every game I buy on Steam, I can use offline. I don't NEED an internet connection, and I have less connectivity on a regular basis going through various parts of North America than any tactical element does in the military. Just because I get my game through an online delivery system doesn't mean any detriment. VR tech is more mature on PC than it ever will be on the nerfed through standardization console platforms, and Gaming is standardized. You game on PC's. Everything else, including Mac's, tries to provide the best emulated experience of.....gaming on a PC.
