Super Sweet Movie Discussion Thread

Netflix, Pope's Excorist

Holy fuck, not my type of movie but I watched it. Russell Crowe played Father Gabriel Amorth, the Vatican chief exorcist, a real priest.

Maria and I were married in the catholic church, she's devout, I'm not catholic and I have my opinions on the Vatican/church but that said, great movie.
My back hurt just thinking about a Vespa ride from the Vatican to Spain

Check out ‘The Devil on Trial.’ It’s about a possessed child who possesses another man who then kills a man and claims innocence by possession of the Devil.

Old Dads was peak Bill Burr.

...in 1976, he signed up for a raffle at a local church. That information was sold to Mammoth Mart, who then sold it to Columbia Record and Tape Club, who turned right around and sold it to JP Morgan Chase.
And then they got hacked, and it ended up on the dark web, so that was a little harder to…
It’s not that important to talk about how we acquired his personal information. Doesn’t matter.

Old Dads...I'm 20 minutes into the film and it isn't funny.

It isn't funny because so much of it is true.

It is taking the piss out of modern society and while capable of being funny, it is so on the nose I can't laugh. The "dressing down" in front of the parents and children would be funny 5 years ago but now it is a scene from the Lifetime Movie of the Week.

My thoughts are this was a satirical take on the modern world...when they filmed it, but now? The world has "advanced" so far the movie isn't funny.

You can laugh at the movie until you realize how wrong it is and then the depression (or anger) kicks in.

ETA: Fixed the title, though Bad Dads is just as appropriate.

Sixty-nine years ago, on the 27th of October, with a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound, Godzilla waded ashore in Nagoya Japan...
...helpless people on a subway train, screamed bug-eyed as he looked in on them.

History shows again and again, how nature points out the folly of men.

Just saw the worst movie I've seen in a long, long time:
Killers Of The Flower Moon (I had to go back and look up the name)

It's difficult to describe how bad this movie was.

This movie was incredibly long, slow, boring, you name it...poor story telling, uninspired acting, didn't care about a single character. It was just awful. I can't think of a single redeeming feature of this film.

My only regret was not going with my gut and walking out after the first hour. I'd eveb gonsee the Taylor Swift movie over this turd. Take my word and save yourself 3 1/2 - 4 hours and miss this one.

I've already discussed this movie more than I ever want to again, so I'm done.

Reviews so far seemed pretty good and I was looking forward to this one. I like westerns and the story seems interesting. Based on your review, I'll wait. I like going to the theatre but rather watch a 3 hour movie at home anyway.

Scorsese has given us some absolute legendary films, but he's also given us Bringing Out the Dead. Reading your post made me think of that movie, so I'll happily pass on Killers.

I thought it might be kind of interesting as well -- and, it could've been, but it wasn't.

I don’t understand the reviews either. Makes me think they didn't see the same film I did...or they're rigged because this movie sucks ass. It's not really a Western; it's set in Oklahoma in the 1920s.

Maybe this could've been a good story if done by someone else...and they took 2 hours off it. It tries too hard to be something relevant. Rarely have I seen a movie/show where I don't care about any of the characters. There's no emotional connection to the characters or story at all, no suspense, nothing. All I could think of is how long the movie was and when will it end.

I just got a text from a coworker who saw it last night, said it was a great movie lol.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Some people enjoy watching grass grow and paint dry.

Some Scorsese films I like, others I don't. I have to say I am immediately put off by any movie of that length unless I can stream it. I just don't have the patience to sit for that long to watch one movie.

I'd rather watch Titanic...and I've seen that whole movie for the same reasons.
