Love this, +5Such the pessimist. All we have to do is feed money to Ukraine until Putin dies (likely of old age!).

So. Interesting thing happened today. As you all know, I've been doing a lot of experimentation with ChatGPT. And what I've found is that there are some things that it just absolutely will not touch. I asked it to do an article based on a prompt inspired by the above meme, and it flatly refused.

It also declined to do an image for the prompt "DEI is dead." It did, however, happily make one for "MAGA is dead."
Weird.

Probably. But we can't ignore it; Putin's bold enough to roll over the Baltic states and thumb his nose at what he would rightly view as an impotent West. And I don't want our troops on the ground there--that's Ukraine's fight. So, given the options, I'd rather spend the money on this particular mess. So don't look at it as wasted money. Looks at it like we're paying to both grind down Russian combat power and get the solid intel on Russian systems in action. He could die tomorrow and there's five or six cats waiting in the wings who'll drive the train down the same track.
get the solid intel on Russian systems in action.

I'm sure you're aware but many aren't, we've hoovered up a LOT, and I do mean a LOT of data on their systems. We've used all of the INTs to great effect over there and that's even before the Ukraine gave us captured hardware.
This comment covers the threat well, except that our threat originates from China:
Interesting--as both a stunning success for Ukraine and as a warning to the rest of the world.
Reminds me of the Mossad Beepers.

This video has done a great job splicing together multiple different camera angles from both sides.
Yup, us 03’s and 11s are fucked.Infantry's got nowhere to hide on a tech-advanced near-peer battlefield. Stick your head out of a hole and you get scorched by a drone.
Loss of any Mainstays is a pretty big blow to their capability.Where the airfield attacks get a little spicy is the status of the A-50 fleet. That's their version of our E-3 AWACS. If we believe Wiki, they built about 40 with 4 going to overseas customers. Wiki has claims of only 6 left in service after at least 2 were downed in or around the Ukraine. Even if you discount 6, they probably had..10-12 maybe? 15 at the outside in service? Our E-3's exist to project power and fill in radar gaps. With a rough generation/ availability of about 50%, and maybe even less for the Russians, AEW takes up a lot of resources for 24/7 coverage in one place.
Russian AEW is basically dead. Their entire fleet is the same size as our deployed units in PACOM.
